Had to beat everyone else to the punch!!!

Imagine if you will, people of like opinions travelling together to Walt Disney World. In one car you have a group of people who believe that the Magic of Walt Disney World hasn't faded even part of one shade over the years. In another (probably headed elsewhere) you've got a group that believes WDW has been ruined for ever.

In which car would you be most comfortable riding?

I voted, but as some of you know, I maintain that I am the rebel on a Harley weaving in and out of traffic.

I think the magic is s strong as ever, too. Perhaps it may not be to park visitors who have been going for 30 years, but the next time you visit, watch a little (or big) kid who is there for the first time. The Castle is a wonder, the parades are exciting, the rides are great, and seeing Mickey for the first time is a thrill. To the first timers, they are experiencing the Disney magic and not worring about, "Well, Mr. Toad used to be here. 20,000 Leagues was just over there. I remember the Skyway." They are just having fun and letting the parks work their own magic.

But, if its not as magical for someone who's been going for 30 years. Imagine how great it would be for the first timer, if it were still just as magical for the oldtimer.

Well to me, we are the ones who do not let it be as magical to us. We want everything to stay the same, and things evolve and change over time. Who is to say that a first timer today would like the parks any better or experience more magic with the rides that are now gone. The ones that have been replaced may not have added to their magic one bit.
I know that I would hate to see CoP close for good, and I hope somehow it stays open until October when I am there again. But if it closes, I will not let that spoil my trip. I am already looking forward to see what happens with Mission Space and all the ride the rides that are new since May 2000.

My concern for the magic leaving has little to do with individual rides and everything to do with the philosophy driving park development or lack there of.

I completely agree with YoHo. My concern isn't that 20k is closed. It's that we looked at an "under rehab" sign for two years and then an empty lagoon since.

My concern isn't that Journey to Imagination isn't there anymore, it's that it was replaced by JIYI. Still holding on to see how that gets remedied.

My concern isn't that Beastly Kingdom didn't get built (well maybe it is) it's that DinoRama was given to us instead.

My concern isn't that Horizons is gone, it's that Future World now operates from 10-7.

Gosh, I seem to be one of the "bad guys" on this board.

...I realize the poll deals ONLY with Walt Disney World but the Parks hugely reflect the themes of Disney Movies and I believe Disney has their second string in the movie game right now...the Disney movies of the late 80s and early 90s gave rise to creative attractions, shows and parades in the parks as well as to the best music in decades...where has all that creativity gone?

...but it's still "the happiest place on earth.":D

Ok...a couple points here....you caught me in a bad mood...lucky you...

1)First off, I dont' know where you were a "bad boy" before, but that won't be tolerated here. We have bad attitudes around here that'll make yours look cute as a kitten. You won't see them unless you push it, but if you're going to push buttons just to get a reaction, expect to find yourself packing.

2) You have to realize everything costs money. Disney can only spend money on development as fast as they get it. After 9/11 everything changed. A lot of construction has slowed or stopped, and many upcoming projects were shelved until better economic times come.

3) You want the parks to evolve and expand but you don't want anything to go away? Seems like you're running over your own foot on this one. Trust me, the 20k lagoon will be used as soon as a good plan can be had for it. There have been a lot of theories for this area, but nothing has worked out.

Hmmm, I haven't seen any Attitudes that scare me yet. Of course I'm an old pro at Internet Discussion boards, so I don't scare easily.

I'm not here to push buttons, I'm here to explain my opinion and convince others that my opinion makes the most sense. If good natured but insistant discussion pushes buttons then so be it. I don't think turning a blind eye to companies foibles is the best way to support the company.

Finally, While 9/11 changed a lot of things. 90% of the reductions going on at the parks were started before then and probably would have gone through anyway. Disney's been hurting for over a year now. Things cost money that's for Darn sure and My concern is that Disney is Wasting their money on the worng things. Like the Who's line is it anyway cable channel.

Well..."Old Pro" if you are going to be bullheaded and refuse to take others opinion into consideration, then you're going to be eating alone on a lot of subjects here. People don't like being told that anyone's opinion is "the best". This is just a place to discuss....not to have an opinion beaten into your head.

If you keep down this road, you'll be finding yourself back at the PIS boards.

Oh I'm perfectly Open to others opinions. Does that mean I should not attempt to get others to agree with me as well?

I'm actually quite the moderate, but I don't enjoy being talked down to.

Well, I'll tell you what...you don't act like a know-it-all and leave people have their own opinion without trying to change it, and I won't talk down to you. I'm the "executioner" of this board and I protect those who need some help, no matter what the situation.

I didn't ask for the nickname it was given to me.....and you'll notice that I am a premium member....they have the ultimate say in this board because WE keep it running.

So if you're gonna act like you're better than ANYONE else on this board, I suggest you leave now.

Otherwise, welcome.....buy me a drink.

Why didn't this work?

Trust me, I'm a nice guy, but I won't turn a blind eye to the company I love either.
