I agree.
I was really mad at the guy who got her pregnant.
He didn't do anything to help her.
She told him and he was like, "oh. okay."
Gah! :brick:

And I found the relationship between Juno and the guy creepy.
It was a very Oscar-y film.
Meaning, it's not really that good for the general public, but the people making the choices will praise it because they want to "see something" in it.

I mean, the girl played the part well, and the supporting cast wasn't bad, but then they put the Superbad kid in there, who, personally, I think is terrible. I don't care at all for the new acting style that seemed to start after Napoleon Dynamite (which was terrible) came out. Granted, I guess the whole socially awkward, rambling dialog, meager delivery sort of acting is more "realistic," but it seems almost like a forced realism, for novelty's sake.

The guy really seemed like he was coming on to her. We were waiting for him to offer to let her live with him in the apartment or something.

Agreed, but the majority of the general public loved it.
I didn't find it funny or creative, and the second point you covered in the paragraph below.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I've never cared for the Superbad kid (or anyone in that movie), and hate Napoleon Dynamite with a passion. I remember everyone raving about it freshman year. I think I got through 20 minutes of it. I don't find that acting style funny, creative, or amusing...it's just plain annoying.

I thought something was going to happen when they were dancing. And then I expected him to ask her to live with him.

Depends what you expected going into it, I'd guess.
If you were told it was funny, you came out disappointed.
If you were expecting yet another one of the comedy/drama crossovers, then you were fine.

McLovin was the only funny part of that movie.
Napoleon Dynamite was terrible. Worst movie I'd seen in a long time. I hated it.

I saw Juno a couple weeks ago and while I don't think i'd put it up there with some of the best pictures of the year I still think it was pretty good and not as bad as you are making it out to be. Michael Cera (The superbad kid) is actually a pretty good actor but I guess you either like his style or you don't because it seems to be the same in nearly everything. He was great on the tv show "Arrested Development" and he and a buddy of his have a series of web videos at www.clarkandmichael.com that are pretty entertaining. I think nearly everytime you have 20 something's playing high school kids it's going to seem a little forced but atleast in this case it was somewhat realistic unlike something like "Dawson's Creek" where the supposed high school kids talked like they were in their 30's and it was completely unbelievable.

I agree that the scene with Juno and the guy on the couch in the basement was pretty creepy but I'm hoping it was meant to be that way, I was also waiting for him to ask her to join him or for him to make a move and I was practically screaming NO please don't at the screen. If it wasn't meant to be creepy then I don't know what they were thinking.
Overall though I would say it was pretty entertaining and it had Jennifer Garner which is always a plus in my book since i'm somewhat in love with her.

Bad, no.
Worth of the praise it's recieve, also no.
In my not so humble opinion, of course.

I fall into the disliking his style camp.
There was really very little difference between his characters in Juno and Superbad. He seems to rely too much on stammering out a few words and pausing awkwardly. Realistic? Probably, but it also drags out his scenes, which already seem too long.

If it wasn't meant to be creepy, then I'm pretty sure that everyone involved is a bit creepy themselves.

It was entertaining, I'd say, but suffers from that "Not-What-I-Expected"-syndrome. People go into it expecting a comedy, and find a drama with a few comedic elements.

I agree there, the ads did seem to make it look more like a comedy than a drama. So I guess if you went in expecting it to be more comedic than serious then I can see why you didn't find it totally satisfying. I guess I had read enough about it to know that it was going to lean more to the serious side than the comedic. The trailers for this film were somewhat misleading, not unlike the trailers for Sweeny Todd that left out the one major detail, there's Lots and lots of singing and almost as much blood.

Hello wonderful peeps.

I see Connor and Nicole were discussing movies last night.
My mom and I might go see a movie today.
I want to see either:
The Bucket List
The Great Debaters
27 Dresses
Juno

The Great Debaters isn't playing anywhere around here. :(
But the others are.
We shall see.
