Cool moment with Joel's teacher. I talked to her about how he's doing - she said he is taking academics and just doing awesome...so verbal. I joked with her that he's been listening to his sister for six years, so he's finally getting a chance to talk himself. His weakness is holding a pencil and scissors, so they're using different media to work on writing. Tracing letters in shaving cream, for instance, which he LOVES. She said he just doesn't seem ready for a pencil yet, so they're working on other things and trying to build it up. Gives me some good ideas of what his next IEP should entail.
That's great!!
Go Joel! :sohappy:

That sounds great. Go Joel Go.:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

Jenny, I am so happy for you all.
I remember back to how worried you were at just where he should be this school year...where he would fit in and what you should expect. I know that every one of these wonderful stories you share with us means that you made the right decisions for your son. I know you're proud of Joel...rightly so. Be proud of you, too!

That's great!!
Go Joel! :sohappy:

Thanks everyone! :o I know I must remind myself to take each day one at a time and not worry so much about the future. It's been a tad challenging lately with the whole levy nonsense, but I'll try harder.

DL is a lot smaller than WDW, but has more attactions. The quality here is better...our attractions are in great shape. There are some great attractions found here that can't be found in WDW. And the ones found in both resorts are different (DL's are better :lookaroun). One of the big differences between the two resorts is that DL is only a 3-4 day stay, unlike WDW where people usually stay for a week or more. The food at DL isn't up to WDW's standards, but there are a few gems like Napa Rose. Staying offsite is cheaper and usually a better choice than staying onsite, unless you want to stay at the Grand Californian.

I can't wait to get out there!

My wife got me an engineers guide to Disney, a book written by the imagineers and it shows somethings about DL. I would like to go one day. Only problem is my wife doesn't like to fly and that's a BIT of a drive.

Need a babysitter?:lookaroun

Some advice needed...
Lauren just called me. In the half hour since she's been home from work, she's gotten at least 10 cell phone calls and at least as many text messages from a 16 boy whom she does not know. She answered a couple of calls...He called her by name, said his name was Mike and he got her number from Justin (?) and just wanted to be her friend. She asked him to leave her alone and hung up. He called right back and she answered again (big mistake, I know) He asked her in a whisper "Why won't you just be my friend?" She hung up. Since then he's been texting non-stop "Please Lauren, I need a friend, please, please be my friend..." She called me hysterical and I told her under no circumstances to answer any more calls or texts. I told her to keep a written log of all of the calls and texts and to just wait it out...he'll probably back off if he isn't getting a response.
Does anyone know of anything else I should tell her?
The thing that worries me...the calls didn't start till she got home.
Does this mean he knows her patterns?
I'm a bit freaked.

Oh man. I just saw that, and that is sooooo scary. I'm glad the calls have stopped.

Anyone want to join me?

Anyone want some light up ice cubes for their drink?

Oooo, I'll take the purple ones.

Class was fun today. We played hide n' seek. And it was all in sign language- no talking.

Also, on the way home I saw a van in front of me that had Peter Pan on. I can't believe I figured it out from the back.:o

I just read the thread started by the kid w/ the school troubles... I wanted to reach through the monitor and hug him! He sounded so sad. :( I hope he straightens things out soon.

Can't stay.... DH signed up for Netflix and is dying to start adding DVD's to his list...

Just wanted to say that I love you all so much... you have no idea.

Love you back.
And I feel the same way about the boy in the other thread.
I'm glad he reached out. It's a big step.

OK - I'm finally off the phone. Busy night!

It's about time!
