Moriah- is your machine a Bernina? My mom has one.

Second- I know that I have a digital watch where I can store phone numbers. If there are childrens' watches with that capability, the parents could teach the child how to use the watch to get to the phone book, and if the child gets lost, they could go up to a CM and say "This is my mommy and daddy's phone number. I'm lost. Can you help me?"

I just remember with the boy that was lost, I went into CM mode, started talking to him so that he would feel comfortable taking my hand and going to the nearest CM, and I called his parents when he showed the phone number. I explained exactly where we were, and what I was wearing. I swear, in 30 seconds, his parents were there, hugging him- and offering to buy something for me. Being the good samaritan I am, I declined. *grin*

Hi, my machine is a Viking (also is my son's name...lol), but I have used the machine you are talking about. It is AWESOME!!!! My machine is a hand me down, so it doesn't always work too well, but... someday I will own one as awesome as your moms.

My dad has said "That is the next three years' worth of Hannukahs, anniversaries, and birthdays." They also paid for the extended warranty and a few programs, so my mom's costs upwards of $5000!

I just got back and here is what I did.

1. I bought "Who's Shoes IDs". They come in bright pink and blue. They velcro onto shoes, either around laces or sandle straps. All the information is on the inside of the tag. They come with another ID card which you keep with you with their picture and vital information. Everything is contained inside the tag on the shoe but easily accessed if needed.

2. Ident-A-Kid cards - I had my kids carry a ident-a-kid card that had there picture, name, our contact information, and finger print on it. They carried these in their pocket or belly bag. Again out of site but easily accessible. My husband and I also carried a card for each child in case we needed the information. When you get upset you tend to forget things so this helps officials when you need it.

Now, neither of my kids got lost, but here was one situation that could have turned out bad. My husband went to get Fast Passes for Buzz Lightyear. I was pushing the stroller with the two kids in it. I paused to wait when my 2 year old jumped out and ran for the Buzz entrance - she thought we were not going to ride it. This left me with the 5 year old and the stroller. Luckly I was able to grab her before she got to far and the 5 year old knew to stay in place. Being only one person at that time, I could have easily lost her in the crowds that day. That is why I plan ahead on identification. I also had a long talk with my 5 year old before we went....I think everything went in one ear and out the other, but I will keep drumming it into her and start with the youngest soon as well.

I'd love to hear from a cast member (current or former) who works crowd control to get the perspective of someone who is around large crowds on a daily basis to see how much of a problem "lost children" really is.

It is good that people go into the park thinking they must keep a sharp eye out for their little ones - that probably helps keep bad things from happening.
