We like 'Ohana and Crystal Palace tons better than Chef Mickeys, especially for a 3 year-old. Pooh, Piglet and Tigger are just more little kid friendly to me--no offense Mickey and Minnie. The food is much better in my opinion. I gave Chef Mickey's several tries. Still don't care for the food or atmosphere. Can't stand the birds flying around in the rafters.
'Ohana is the least expensive breakfast, and I don't overeat there. I really enjoy their food. They have Stitch characters and Mickey and I believe Goofy. We're eating there in a week. We've been doing CP the last few trips.
We love it there. The atmosphere and the breakfast lasagna are amazing.
For dinner, if you can get a ressie for 'Ohana, you should do it. It is crazy good. All the steak, chicken wings, pork, and shrimp you can eat, and it's cooked over an open fire. The service was terrific.

A breakfast for three adults and one child will run you $125.33 with taxes. We love eating here and do so every trip. The food is not spectacular or anything (none really is at WDW), but the atmosphere is really neat. Especially for kids.

When we were there in October, we did the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at GF. Thought the atmosphere and food were much better than Chef Mickey's. Those are my only 2 character dining breakfast buffet experiences, but I would definitely recommend the GF breakfast over Chef Mickey's.

We've always had great luck at Chef Mickey's. We are HUGE fans of the 1900 Park Fare at GF. I would recommend checking out the menus and what character so you can decide. It's hard to beat seeing Mickey without standing in line with a three year old.

For those of you who did 1900 park Fair were you staying at GF? If not how did you go about getting there? I have an 8am res that I am freaking out about making it to on time. We are staying at CBR

We did a ton of character meals on our last trip and sometimes, you have to accept that the quality of food might not be outstanding and it is more about the overall experience.

If seeing the 'fab 5' is really important to the child in your party (as it was to my boy), then it's absolutely worth it. We did the breakfast buffet & weren't blown away, but seeing my son's face when he got to meet the gang, made it 100% worth it. We'll be doing it again on our upcoming trip.

We were staying at POR when we went. Like jpittore1 said, we just took a bus to MK. We decided to take the boat across to GF as it was a beautiful day, but either monorail or boat would work. We had plenty of time.

When we did Chef Mickey's, we were at AKL and took a taxi over. I'm sure the CMs at CBR can help you with that if you want. It might be worth it if it helps relieve your stress.

The food at all the buffets meals are very similar and price runs about the same. What you should be deciding is were you want to go and what characters you want to meet. If you want to see Princesses go to Akershus in Norway over at EPCOT. If you want Pooh characters go to Crystal Palace at MK. Chef Mickey has MM and friends. Cinderella and Mary Poppins and friends at 1900 Park Fare. There are so many more that I could show you photos of. There are places to find the list of characters.

Allears only gives a range of prices for the character buffets. We love Chef Mickeys for breakfast but will only do it on the DDP. I am not sure how much exactly but my sister and her hubby paid for this meal on their disneymoon out of pocket, and with their tip they spent $80.00!!!! For breakfast, just the 2 of them. You are definitely paying for the characters.

The price for many meals in WDW restaurants varies depending on the time of the year and sometimes whether or not it's a weekday or weekend. However, allears.net lists what I guess is an average price of Chef Mickey's as
Adult price range: $33.01; Child (ages 3-9) price range: $18.10

It could be a few dollars more or less.

If the kids really want to see Mickey, I HIGHLY recommend the Garden Grill in epcot. We did 5 character meals and by far this was the best! It's only for dinner, but the food for both the adults and kids was better than any buffet food we had. Also, the character interaction was wayyyyy better than any other character meal. The Mickey at chef mickey barely waved at us whereas mickey at the Garden Grill was joking with the kids, pretending to eat food, paid attention to the adults in our group and was just plain old FUN!

Oh and the rotating restaurant is just an added awesome bonus!

Seriously top rated for us!

OP, all the character buffets are fairly similar. They each have their own signature dishes, but on the whole, are fairly average decent food. Most people select the location based on where they are where/where they will be, and what characters they want to meet.

For those of you who did 1900 park Fair were you staying at GF? If not how did you go about getting there? I have an 8am res that I am freaking out about making it to on time. We are staying at CBR

There is a "character breakfast" bus that starts running about 6:30 each AM. The front desk may claim it doesn't start til later, but every day buses are running right at that time. Typically you can just hop on the MK bus. Depending on how full the bus is the driver may take your directly to the GF, or they may drop you off at the MK. If they do, you can take the boat or the monorail to GF.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi as a more direct route.

Hopefully they will get the rotating part fixed, it has been broken since March.

This ^^^^. In our opinion, Chef Mickey's is a must do when on the dining plan (for breakfast, didn't really wow us at all for dinner in the past) But... it is THE Fab Five! Both Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fair had better dinner menus.

Tried Crystal Palace for breakfast, never again. :( We were not crazy about the food quality or the crowd. We've done Chef Mickey's for breakfast and dinner. We prefer breakfast. While it does tend to get crowded there, we've always had a good experience with the service, characters, and food quality. Chef Mickey's breakfast is a must-do for us, especially when we stay at the Contemporary so we can grab a good breakfast before the parks open.
