Chef Mickey's walk up for breakfast?

I've been trying to get ADR's for 7am breakfast in 2 months and it's booked. My question is, do they book every table with ADR's or do they leave any open for walk up? We have a party of 5. Is it possible to get there at 6:55 and get a table, or is it only if a party doesn't show? The place is booked for the entire week we're there and my girls love to go there and then walk over to MK for park open. :(

They definitely DON'T leave a few tables open for walk-ups. They book every single table they can. Might there be people who are no-shows for their ADRs? Sure! Would I want to count on that? NOOOOOOOO, I wouldn't want to count on that. Especially not with kids in tow. I'd hate to get their expectations up and then disappoint them.

Don't count on it but be willing to give it a try in the mornings. When we stayed at the CR in January '09 we scored a walk-up around 7:30-8:30 or so for a party of 5. Also keep checking and calling. You never know when something could open up.

I don't think they hold back any tables for walk-up, though. I think it's just luck when you get walk-ups.

Well, not knowing your exact dates just found a 7:10 for a party of 5 on 6/30. So they do pop up, you just need to keep trying and see what happens. I would not plan on walking up unless you are certain your family would be ok with eating at the CS if Chef Mickey's can't get you in.

Thanks for the help. We are going June 12-19. Luckily my kids are old enough to understand if we had to eat at counter service and I don't think they would mind it. I'm actually looking now at maybe doing Kona cafe instead, but they don't show any early openings either (but they have around 9-9:30). Guess I'll just keep looking!

We walk up to character meals all the time! Especially those outside the parks when we are on trips to the beach, but we fly in/ out of Orlando. One week ago today, I was sitting at Ohana having breakfast with Mickey! :D Had no reservation, just walked up and said I was willing to wait.

There have been times when we have been given a flat out - no, no way (twice in about 20 attempts) but it is rare. ETA - that's why we're always willing to go with plan B - Kona instead of O'hana, the Wave instead of Chef Mickey's etc. Waiting for a table really works best with dinner or a late breakfast- brunch (instead of lunch). Because you aren't starving like you would be first thing in the morning. But if you get there when they open and say you are willing to wait - who knows???? Be sure to tell them you aren't an idiot - you know the system and have been trying for months to get the reservation. That might help. :animwink:

Either way - have a great time!!! :sohappy:
