Chef Mickey's relocated to the ballroom tonight

Just as we approached Chef Mickey's for dinner we were redirected to the ballroom on the 2nd floor with no explanation or apology or anything of the sort. Very bummed as my son loves this restaurant and today is his birthday which is why we are eating here. So essentially we are now eating "wedding reception" style. Just great........

The characters are here. From what we got from a server, there were repairs needed in the restaurant and they notified staff at 3:00 this afternoon this would be happening. We keep walking around joking that we are at a wedding and will be doing the chicken dance shortly. They threw a bunch of Mickey head ice cream pops in an I've cream chest and have small plates of other usual treats.

Sorry for the disappontment. The ballroom cannot possibly have the ambiance of Chef Mickey's. Hopefully, you will still have a good time and Mickey and Friends will be extra nice for your inconvenience.

This is from another thread:

Due to an issue with the window area above the Chef Mickey's dining room, Chef Mickey's will be relocating tonight (July 25 2013) to the Ballroom of Americas located on the second floor of the resort.

At least they are working on recovery and not just shutting down the restaurant.

seems like a disappointment, but sometimes there is nothing that can be done. weren't they doing work on that side of the main building? when we were there in June, there was scaffolding on that entire set of windows. Perhaps something happened due to that work (if in fact it is still ongoing). anyway, it seems disney is doing the best they can with the situation which they normally do when these things happen. they are the best at managing situations with as little impact to guest experience as i have ever seen.

A window broke earlier today causing the relocation.
