Chef Mickey's relocated to the ballroom tonight

I've always loved the Contemporary. I guess the sleigh bell doesn't ring for you anymore.

Actually, to the contrary. I was just commenting on the lack of Disney atmosphere. Even one of the managers I spoke to on another topic said this was a comment he gets almost every day from a guest.

We were just there for a week at the end of June. We've probably stayed there 15 or more times. In the mid-90s there was still a sculpture of Walt and Mickey greeting you as you entered the lobby and small but adequate reminders you were in a Disney hotel. Somewhere along the line the main lobby, not the fourth floor, and all the rooms started to look like a Hyatt or W or any other convention hotel. I was amazed during our last visit that there was not even one piece of artwork in either of our rooms that depicted Mickey, either deliberately or hidden. It does however have a number of features that keep us coming back; monorail in the building, ability to walk back from the Magic Kingdom, the best park view of any resort and of course, they have an incredible staff.

and since it was June, you're right....I didn't hear any sleigh bells.

It's located right behind that glass. My guess? Probably a mixture of safety, weather concerns and to allow access to construction crews to fix it.

I'm thinking access and safety. It looks pretty high up from the picture posted. You need some kind of large machinery to lift such a large heavy piece of glass up there. Then you don't want people too close to a large heavy piece of glass that hasn't been secured yet. They'll get it done quickly though. Wouldn't surprise me if Chef Mickey's is back open tonight. I just hope another panel doesn't break. Sometimes when one breaks it might be a sign something. Hopefully it was just one bad pane of glass.

Too bad they couldn't just fix the food instead.

We go for breakfast and honestly, there's only so much you can do with eggs, bacon, saugage and pancakes. It's more or less an expensive version of IHOP or Denny's. You just have to accept you're paying for the character experience and go with it.
