Chef Mickey / Contemporary parking

We have reservations for Chef Mickey at 8:00. We are staying at Port Orleans not the Contemporary. We plan on visiting MK that day. The park's opening time is 9:00. We will have a car. I know that the guard at that Contemporary will only issue us a three hour parking pass. I really want to avoid driving after breakfast to the MK parking lot to catch the monorail. If we go and park at the TTC around 7:30 will the monorail be running to the Contemporary? This way when we are done breakfast we can just catch the monorail to the MK and not have to worry about moving our car. thanks

I would just catch a cab. Cab rides are cheap enough (I think the day we made a run from POFQ to the Contemporary it was like $12.00). The cab rides are so fast and so convenient when you're going resort to resort or when time is an issue. We did several cab rides on our last trip and felt like the bang-for-the-buck was well worth it. The cabbies don't have to do a lot of explaining to the guards at the resorts, either. They have a pass thing they show and in they go. So for me, early in the morning like that when I know I'll be racing the clock and scared to death Disney transport may take a bit too long..and to maximize my sleep time, of course..I'd take spend the money to take a cab.

Why not just hop on the bus at POR and go to MK? The buses start running around 6:30 a.m. or something like that for those who have breakfast ADR's prior to park openings. We always get an 8:00 ADR at Crystal Palace at MK on a day that they don't open until 9:00. We've never had a problem with the buses and stayed at POR last time too. Just get the bus to MK and hop on the monorail to Chef Mickey's. That's what we always do. Have fun!

We had a reservation for Chef Mickeys last October for 7.30, we arrived in parking lot really early and then waited and waited for a monorail which were supposed to start at 7 but didn't arrive until 7.45. We explained when we arrived late and were seated without any problems but I would recommend using the resort buses for your trip.

Traveling with an infant and have always have just found the car more convenient. Strollers and the buses just do not work for me. thanks though

We have had this same dilemma several times. What we usually do is leave the car at the CR after breakfast, walk to MK, ride several rides, then DH will take the monorail back to CR and move the car to the parking lot. Kind of a pain, though. I did recently hear that you can request a special shuttle or something through your resort if you have ADR at another resort in the morning. Might be worth checking in to.

I heard that too, Nadie. If you ask your front desk when you check in and tell them you have a ressie at ? place at ? time, they will make sure you get there in time.:)

I agree about having a car when traveling with an infant. We always get a car. It is just easier for us.

I do know that the monorail runs to MK at 7:30 since there are early am ressies for CP & CRT before the park opens. I have no idea about if they run to CR. I am guessing they do for that same reason. But anyways you could always take the monorail from TTC to MK and walk over to CR.

Have fun & enjoy!

Chef Mickeys/Contemporary

Is this 3 hour pass the same in the evening. I've booked Chef Mickeys at 5pm and planned to walk to MK to see parade and fire works after.

If this is the case, will happily pay for valet parking if it saves braving the the mass exodous with 2 young children after the fireworks.

I believe it is a three hour pass all day to prevent people parking there and walking ovet to the MK.

What happens if you exceed the 3 hours allowed by the parking pass? Do they tow your car, or charge a fine?

We have gone over the 3 hours a few times, by about an hour, and nothing happened. It wasn't a really busy time of year though. They may be a little more strict in peak season. I would think they have the right to tow it, but that wouldn't be very Disney like at all.
