You've got this absolutely backwards. They've already committed to investing $60 billion on the parks. They can't make that kind of commitment though without knowing that the guests will pay for it.
There is absolutely ZERO firm about that “committment”

No timetable and no contractual obligation.

Ask for the money from that law school you went to back (before your shift at wetzel’s pretzels)

Hopefully there will be some decent discounts coming I just rebooked my December trip, 6 of us in two rooms, The new discounts saved me about 850/room. The majority of the discount was getting the park hopper for free.

We were there a couple weeks ago and the parks were mobbed... Waits were all pretty long, the walkways in all the parks were packed and restaurant availability was extremely low. All the while on here everyone was saying that the parks are quiet... I guess compared to Christmas week, but they were all pretty busy to me....
…with all do respect…that is almost literally not possible

What parks and what days? So we can check with our “crowd guy”?

Ive been saying the same thing

Why not give onsite included with a hotel stay - Make folks want to upgrade their hotel and stop the nickel and diming.
Deluxe, and DVC get 6 LL 2-1s and 4-2s
Moderates get 4 LL 1 - 1 and 3 - 2s
Values and good neighbor hotels get 3LL 1- 1 and 2 -2s

Offsite hotels get the same as values with add purchase LL
"Good neighbor" hotels should get nothing. You want the Disney perks, stay on-site.

Yeah I never understood this
The same reason they used to do damn near everything…to develop a loyal, repeat customer base. Pull more people Under the umbrella

Then people move closer…then to more expensive places…then to annual passes…dvc…multi yearly visits…multi generations “born into it”

It worked.

Nothing they’ve done for years supports that. Bad management now publicly failing

Why does any of that matter? all that matters is Quarterly Profits....modern corporate America

In the Parks
No
With the exception of the Poly. Here is your list of resorts that are HURTING right now.

I just did the math to compare the first 4 options to DVC cost. Not yet cheaper than DVC but it’s closing in!

July 4-7 (3 nites)Rack RateWith DiscountDVC points/nt avgCost at $20/pointDifference
AKL$522$33515$300$35/nt
BW$644$42615$300$126/nt
GF$840$54020$400$140/nt
Poly$728$64822$440$208/nt

$20 is fair value - typical rental cost, and DVC price for ‘one time use points’ or buying back current year points.

DVC points are standard view studio villas. The above offer is likely hotel rooms, also standard view. The 2 options and rack rates at each resort are similar enough for comparison’s sake.

G+/LL/MPLL/SPLL are only symptoms of the bigger public facing problem Disney has. How do you extract more revenue without having to actually invest in anything to get more customers?

In management's mind, they firmly believe that their approach will overcome any temporary slowness and return significant value to the shareholders. All they have to do is stay the course.

Unfortunately Blackrock and Merrill and Morgan Stanley are not fun to take on vacation and don't dictate guest behavior and choices.

Perhaps the most alarming thing to the Disney Brain Trust and Wall Street wolves should be that this slowness isn't caused by 50% of your customers leaving you. It's likely less than 10% and even worse, trend is heading the wrong way for Disney.
I’m still hopeful that they change course. The worst of the cost cutting and overpricing is still a relatively recent phenomenon, and happened in unusual circumstances (Covid and streaming wars.) I know people get mad at Iger over cuts and price increases, but he seems like more of a pragmatist than Chapek was. Chapek did give the impression of wringing every last cent from the parks, Iger I’m hoping is striving for more of a balance between lots of different interests.

I would be hopeful if they showed they were going to change course. They rooms off-line, empty parks and resorts and haven't done anything about it.

Staying the course and hoping Epic is going to help you is not the answer.

I’m not a Level 10 Pixie Duster or anything but I’m still inclined to give Disney the benefit of the doubt. I think big institutions move slowly but a significant dip in bookings sends a pretty clear message about what direction they need to move in. I’m feeling much more positive about their direction than I have since the post Covid era. Just my take, it may be totally off base.

Are they legally bound to this 60bln monopoly number they keep tossing around?

What directions since Covid do you think are in the right direction and positive?
