Cheap Umbrella vs. Poncho

I can't stand ponchos at theme parks. I use a small Mickey Mouse umbrella and I find it to be MUCH easier to keep up with. But the rest of my family prefers ponchos. I just get too hot in them (Even the small, thin Disney ones) and I hate having to take them off inside each attraction and having to hold a wet poncho during the attraction.

By the way, GO BILLS! :wave:

I think that Ponchos tend to be easier to use. After the rain is over you can just fold them up and put them in a bag. They weigh nothing as well so they aren't hard to carry around.

My choice would be the umbrella. Those ponchos are really not breathable in the Florida heat and they smell too.

Generally the rain is gone fairly quickly, so the heat factor is not really an issue for me. Sometimes I just duck into an exhibit/attraction/restaurant until the rain gone. As far as the smell goes , they remind me of a combination of Christmas morning when I was a child and summer trips to the beach. (Something about that plastic smell)

I try to be encumbered with as little as possible. So the poncho is usually what I choose.

Poncho. Ever been poked in the face with an umbrella because the owner had it down to protect their face from the rain?

If you're like me, my hair tends to fro out if it gets rained on. So needless to say, I just bought a cheap (.87) poncho from Wal-Mart. Plus it's clear, not the ugly yellow.

Ponchos. I have a tendency to lay things down and forget about picking them up. Ive lost many of things by doin that. I just stick with a cheap poncho. If i leave that somewhere I dont have to worry about loosing alot of money.

I have to agree with Miss Bell. For us its usually just deal with the rain and go for the fun! But if its really bad or getting cold then I'll break out the ponchos. For me umbrellas in a crowded theme park rank up there with lit cigarettes and strollers on steroids! In the wrong hands they can be VERY dangerous! ;)

Rain = Umbrella
Wet Rides = Poncho
Personally I've never used or carried either - but if I had to make a choice this would be my preference

I don't really use either really, but my wife prefers the umbrellas. The umbrellas are bulky and a pain to carry, but the ponchos don't really keep you that dry, because half the time you get soaked just taking them off.

What I can't stand, sorry everyone, is the people who wear the ponchos on the water rides. For Cry EYE!!!
