Thank you for the pictures! Very Helpful.

It looks like Disney will house me and my family in Chatham or Vista for a six month job I will be doing in the parks. We have a 2 year old (Pictured above). We are curious if there is a park or playground close by. I have heard there is a CM park close by.

The apartments look furnished, but barely. I assume bringing our own flare would help. But is there anything you needed that was just missing? (i.e. phone, plates, blankets)

Thanks!

Mickey's Retreat is adjacent to Chatham Square, or a 4 or 5 minute drive from Vista. Playgrounds, pools, a lake, ect. Nice little 'park' for a picnic or to take children to. They apts are furnished but things you might consider would be a television, phone, blankets and sheets, an entertainment center or TV stand, computer, ect. You get a chair and a couch, all the dishes and silverware you need, as well as pots, pans ect.

You don't have to transfer buses at Vista. At least you didn't when I was there in 2004, all the buses stopped at both Chatham and Vista, a few of them didn't stop at the commons, but the commons is within walking distance from Chatham anyway.

Oh really? I had heard that they switched bus companies after my CP. Maybe this was a change.

They changed bus compinies last fall on sept 11th but the scheduling of buses pretty much stayed the same.....

it was however diffrent then it was back in 2002 during my first CP (in 2002, a bus ran every 15mins from Chatham to vista, and from there 95% of the buses would leave from there..)

But last year it seems as all the bus routes pretty much stoped at all 3 complexes during its trip (not really sure though as i did not take the buses)

The buses stop at both Chatham and Vista. However, only a few have a stop at the Commons. I believe the AK and Epcot buses are 2 of them.

To a certain extent you get to choose complexes, when I got there they asked which I prefered, I think it also depends on how many roommates you want, if you want a 4 bedroom you'll definetly be in Chatham since there are no 4 bedrooms at Vista.

How do you guys know about the atmospheres of the different apartment complexes? I want no part of parties or noise. Is there a particular site I could look at to learn more about these hidden parts of the CP? Thanks!

No matter where you live, you're going to have parties or noise. The walls are thin, so you'll hear your neighbors all the time. It's just something you'll have to deal with. Chatham definitely tends to be quieter, so if you don't like the parties or noise, I would suggest that complex. And we know about the complexes because we all used to be CPs. I lived in Chatham during my CP during the spring of 2004.

I lived at The Commons while Chatham was being built and visited Vista Way a few times during my time there... I was soooo relieved to be placed at the Commons! First of all, VW is old and it didn´t have the services Commons had, not to mention the apartments were beautiful at the Commons. I´d pick Chatham over VW anytime because it was a copy of TC. Plus, it´s newer... fot that sole reason should be enough! ;)

Then Chatham should be your place - Mickey´s Retreat is next to it. :)

You could ask to be placed in a building in the corner of the complex rather than in the middle. You're less likely to have people walking by making a ton of noise. Again it is hard to avoid. Hopefully you can sleep through it. Florida is notorious for more lightening strikes than anywhere in the world due to its geographical location and geological setting. On night lightening struck very close to Chatham and I almost slept through it. My roommate thought I was dead because I didn't make any noise and it scared him so bad he fell of his bed and ran into the hall.

My first apartment was right above the basketball courts in Vista. Talk about noise. Luckily I rarely went to bed before 1:00 a.m. when the courts closed so it didn't bother me so much usually. But it was irritating trying to watch t.v. or something and listen to the bouncing balls. And I was on the third floor so I can imagine how bad it was for those on the first.
