did anyone else crack up laughing at the part that refrences the "It's a small world" anamatronics? (as they are getting ready to go into the factory?) I cracked up with Wonka's reaction to the show as well. That song will be stuck with my for days to come......
My sister and I were really cracking up in that scene, especially when they caught fire :D And Wonka's reaction is one of my most favorite quotes from the movie...I've been saying "heh, WOW!" for days at nearly everything. For instance, there was a double rainbow the other day and mom said her sunglasses made the colors more inhanced, so she hands me her sunglasses, I put them on and look over at the rainbow and go "heh, WOW!" and my sister started cracking up again, lol :)
It's SUCH a quotable movie!

I Loved the movie, and I loved the music. I have been going crazy trying to find the music played in the trailer. Not Wonka's Welcome Song, but the one that starts up near the end of the theatrical trailer (right at 'Don't touch that squirrels nuts). Any help would be appreciated.

It was a good movie, but not nearly as good as the original IMO. I think that Wilder did a much better and more believable job at playing Wonka than Depp did.
Both Charlie's were very good- I think I liked Freddie Highmore's performance a bit better.
Grandpa Joe was cast excellently- better than the original. All the other grandparents were good too.
Oompa Loompas are strange no matter who plays them- its just in their nature.
A couple things bothered me:
1. When Wonka crashed his face into the elevator once it was *chuckle chuckle* funny, but the second time it was plain old stupid.
2. Wonka kept saying that Mike mumbled, when Augusts mumbled much more than Mike did!
Does anyone remember if in the book Veruca fell down the chute with chickens or with squirrels? Truthfully I can't remember. Also, in the original movie- do they mention that Mr. Bucket works at a toothpaste factory?

From what I remember in the first movie with Gene Wilder, they don't mention Mr. Bucket at all just MRS. Bucket and the grandparents.

There was no Mr. Bucket in the first film, and Mike Tevee went with his Mom and Violet with her Dad.

I really liked the dad's to both Veruca & Violet in the first film. Mr. Tevee was a waste and looked like a serial killer and not someone who could have ever pro-created

Did anyone else have a hard time hearing alot of the lyrics to the songs?

I never thought I'd see dozens of mini Deepak Chopra's running around the screen. :D :D :D

See, I didn't think the first one was funny b/c I had seen it so many times in the previews for the movie, however, I thought the second time he did it was hilarious b/c I totally didn't see it coming!

By the way, I loved this movie and I cannot wait to see it again! Johnny Depp did an outstanding job (and I'm not a Johnny Depp fan) as did Freddy Highmore (whom I also liked in Finding Neverland). I totally recommend that everyone should go see this movie b/c it is really is enjoyable.

I was right! My mom couldn't remember.
Violet's mom was so snobbish in this movie....I couldn't stand her.
I agree about Mike's dad....a bit freaky.

I started to rewatch the original last nite, but got tired and stopped it right after Violet turned into the blueberry.
Answer to my question regarding Mr. Bucket- they say Mr. Bucket is dead in the original.
