characters in the heat

Evidently they don't pay too well. I had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe once. Our server was also a cast member who played Alice in Wonderland and King Louie (odd combo, huh?). She said they are very limited in the amount of time they're out in public, with yoga style warm-ups before they go out. It sure wouldn't be too pretty if all the characters were dropping like flies. Might get a complaint or two.

If I remember right, the heat, humidity, time of year and some other things all have a factor on how long characters are allowed to be out with guests. These are all used to figure out how many minutes they are allowed out. Outside on a hot summer day it's only like 12 minutes. Quite surprising.
MKT is the guy to ask on this... if I remember right he mentioned that the pay is not too bad for characters. I've also heard that if you are in a union the pay is higher.

hmm, thinking about it, friar tuck wears a pretty heave robe out, a lot. If i wore a robe like that, i'd be warm probobly.

No CM.. not Mickey, not Eisner, NONE.. not one is allowed to carry water onstage... so he has to go backstage for his quick water fix.
And just like you, the characters just grin and bear it..
geez.. acting like there's something to protect. There isn't...
Characters get thirsty, just like you and me....
however.. when people get to talking about people in suits.. I ask them to point out a single mascot at Disney. I have yet to see one. I see people, I see inanimate objects, and I see characters..
all real.
But unless there's a sporting event, I have yet to see a single mascot in the park.

EC park greeters are allowed to have water bottles onstage, and are in fact supplied with water bottles, and waste strap bottle holders by management. I still have mine.

Park Greeters get water bottles.. character greeters get water bottles.. MK Astro Orbiter CM's get water bottles...
but most still don't.. lol.

Are the characters from Star Wars really part of Disney? When we were at Star Wars Weekend back in early June we ran into a Jawa carrying a Disney bag (green). As we were posing for a picture we jokingly asked what he (she, it?) had bought. You guessed it, water. First time I ever saw a character with a shopping bag. And yes, it was a real character, not a guest. You can the the difference between guest and character costumes.

gimme a break.. they're all real.
overzealous fans are not allowed with costumes that look like the characters.. except cute kids and men in drag at the halloween party (seriously)...
but if they bring it in a bag... who is to stop them.. lol
