Characters in Disney Springs

He's pretty good at proving other peoples points. While not providing any evidence to support his own.

Well I have, it failed as lifestyler mall - without offering the standard trolley to take you around as most would expect. It also doesn't host the quantity of entertainment venues, e.g. a circus, an arcade(which might be closing), a part of bowing alley, a cinema complex. Three venues are not numerous and do not get into the definition. Also one might also note the stores bar from Uniqlo which is not new to the UK doesn't offer any unique merchandise to DS, an over abundance of jewellery and sandal shops - makes it more apparent they hadn't a clue if they would get certain retailers.

But please continue with your mindless ignorant attitude. Have a nice day.

See Orlando Premium Outlet Mall. Now show me the differences and that and Disney Springs
The architecture might be similar but the prices aren't. I got to Premium outlets for but one get one half off Converse or up to 75% off Nike.
Disney Springe is mainly offering high end brands at full price.

Mindless ignorant attitude is not accepting when you are wrong or commenting about a place you haven't been, too. Sorry they didn't build your own personal shopping utopia.

Why are we arguing about this? If I may ask... Today is September 11 and we are worried about the difference between an outlet mall, and Disney Springs... I'm sorry but this just seems like a useless arguement especially on this type of day...

People can argue no matter the day, you know. Just because it's 9/11, Christmas or Valentine's Day doesn't mean that people on a FORUM can't have a civilized argument.

Here is the definition of "Outlet Store" that is the commonly accepted in American society. It is from businessdirectory.com.

factory outlet
A retail store that sells discounted price items that are irregular, outdated or have been produced in excess quantities. A factory outlet store specializing in selling goods from a particular business might be located in physical proximity to its manufacturing facilities or in association with other factory outlet stores.
A full priced brand retail outlet such as a Levi's store at DS isn't what people consider a "Factory Outlet" store. Most sane people would NEVER call the Cartier Store at the Mall@Millinia a Factory Outlet even though they only sell Cartier branded merchandise.

Oh, and I am one of those hypocrites who pooh poohed the retail mix claiming that I would never buy anything there because of the high prices. Well my DD20 and I were walking passed American Threads and saw an elegant black floor length jumper in the window and I remarked how good she would look in it. I was like, "we'll check it out, but it's proably like $200 bucks". $56 dollars. We bought it and a matching choker.

I don't know that you can do that without tweaking things too far downward. Orlando, while it has its charms and a hard-working citizenry, is just not a wealthy city.

As a point of reference to the "other" Disney community 2,500 miles away, conveniently also named Orange County, here's the comparison between Orange County, Florida and Orange County, California:

Orange County, Florida
Population = 1.3 Million
Median Household Income = $47,556
Total Retail Sales = $23 Billion

Orange County, California
Population = 3.2 Million
Median Household Income = $85,009
Total Retail Sales = $61 Billion

Downtown Disney at Disneyland is a minor regional mall 100 yards from a theme park complex that in 2015 attracted 25.5 Million visitors. Disney Springs is trying to be a major regional mall within five miles of a theme park complex that in 2015 attracted 51.4 Million visitors.

Downtown Disney in Anaheim could never compete with the major upscale malls within 15 miles of it, like South Coast Plaza with over $1.5 Billion in taxable sales last year. There are small cities in the South or Midwest who don't have the annual taxable sales of that single mall 10 miles from Disneyland.

So it will be interesting to see how Disney Springs fares with its upscale retail mix in 2017, 2018, and beyond. I'm no retail expert, but my gut tells me that Disney Springs opened in 2016 with a retail mix that has completely overshot the spending ability of both its local and tourist demographic.

I think you are overlooking the fact that OC California is almost three times the population, with less than three times the retail sales. Along with a higher cost of living in California and not even close the amount of tourism. I don't think Disney is trying to compete against any specific thing, outlet mall, upscale mall, Sand Lake restaurant row, etc. They've created a good mix of many concepts combined together and have accomplished exactly what they wanted, keeping more people on property and giving locals more reason to visit. I'm certainly no expert on retail, but everytime I'm here, the shops have a lot of traffic, and I see a lot of people with bags.

Many of the factory outlets are selling a majority of merchandise made specifically for the outlet at a lower price point, with a mix of overstock, out of season and items that may not be up to quality standards. Very few are selling only overstock these days.

And that's the gimmick which people fall for. They make sure they have a couple items of overstock that they marked down so they can legally call it an outlet but the majority of merchandise is just product that is not made to the same quality as in the regular stores and is reflected in the price.

If you are wondering as to the increasing possibility of characters, this is not the thread you should be looking at instead I would be looking towards the reactions in the Polar Bear M&G Thread.
