Character Crazy Questions

My family and I have taken yearly trips to Disney since the arrival of our first son. This was year 5. We have ammased a great collection of characters and sometimes our whole trip is made by these visits.
This year we found some neat ones like Clarabell Cow, and Horace Horsecollar, the 3 Caballeros, (thanks to people one this site) and some we had not found before although we knew they were somewhat common like Daisey, and Briar Fox.
Of the 65 characters we met those were the only new ones we saw, they were great I mean Horace Horsecollar...that was so cool. It leads me to think why not losen the reigns a little bit more. It seems like every year we get the same 60 or so and then 4 or 5 really unusual ones.
The Halloween party especialy, they had almost the exact same lineup as last year, in fact they had less, because the Villians meet and greet was photos only (and totaly minus the Big Bad Wolf). Why not have a Villians area on those Not So Scary Nights? With some different villians not the standard Queen of Hearts, Jafar, Cruella, Maleficent, Hook, Snow Queen, and Frollo. Why not give the Alice in Wonderlad Area a rest one year and switch themes down that lane to a Villians lane or another movie theme.
Also in the toon town tent it seemed the same crew was signing everyday, why not change it up more often, and the variety last week was a little redundant it was Chip Dale and the big 5, plus the princess line. I mean how redundant is that? I think I saw Chip and Dale more than the families we were with.
Oh and please bring back the bus, that was a great outlet for random characters.
So here are the questions for you vets:
1. Who decides which characters appear and when?
2. Are ther any unique characters at the Christmas deal?
3. Do the charecters appear on a weekly schedule? Like if you see Horace on Monday expcect him on Tuesday?
4. Is there a forum for character talk?
5. Is there a way to find out which characters will be out and where without doing the Chip line thing every morning? Like where those random appearences by obscure charecters will be.
5. Why can't we find the Sherrif of Nottingham, I have been told he is out from time to time by a lot of people, but we only see him in the Boo To You Parade? When my son was young he was his favorite, we did the chip line call thing every day to see if he would be out at the parks last week and had no luck. Is he no longer meet and greet? If he is pass the word to him that we will be there December 17-23rd :) .

Just some questions from a novice to this site.

1. I am not sure who decides where they go and when.

2. I have never been to MVMCP, but give me a month and I will tell you.

3. For the most part you can find the characters in the same area/time ect, but there are factors that could change.

4. I doubt it

5. Unfortunately you would either have to have someone call CHIP hotline, or try asking Guest Relations.

6. The Sheriff is an obscure character. There is no way to tell when he will be out.

Last year for MVMCP we has a lot of the same characters as MNSSHP Scrooge McDuck, Yellow Rabbit, all 4 country bears and Mary Poppins and Bert were the only different ones I can remember all the characters are in their Holiday attire as for the sheriff he is very rare he is usually only out at the Hat and Town Square during very high attendance. Most of the everyday characters are listed on the timesguide sometimes there are the random ones you never know who you might see

I remember the Sheriff of Nottingham years ago when they had the character area across from what used to be Mt. Todd's Wild Ride. You could always find some obscure character's there-The sheriff, Gephetto, the girl mice from Cinderella (not Gus or Jacque-the only mice with names in Cinderella-go figure?!-not your every day characters.

I love going in to the tents in Mickey's Toon Town and seeing the names of the character that had been there.
It would be neat if Disney had an area for Vintage or retired characters. Maybe we should start a petition: :sohappy:

1. Who decides which characters appear and when?Well of course you have the VIPS who are always out, they are the most popular and most in demand, thats why in toon town you can find the popular characters and why they never really change.
2. Are ther any unique characters at the Christmas deal?Yes, you can find Scrooge, and Belle in her christmas attire but only at the christmas party. There might be a few more not 100% sure
3. Do the charecters appear on a weekly schedule? Like if you see Horace on Monday expcect him on Tuesday?"Most" of the characters appear daily, like horaca and clarabelle, the newest ones, expect them to be in the town square area "almost" everyday
4. Is there a forum for character talk? There used to be, not anymore, there was a thing called stalkers and well still is.
5. Is there a way to find out which characters will be out and where without doing the Chip line thing every morning? Like where those random appearences by obscure charecters will be.Your best bet is just to walk around and get lucky, but the only way really to find out for sure is by asking guest relations, they can find out the quickest
If he is pass the word to him that we will be there December 17-23rd .If it was druing the summer you might of saw him out due to busy season but now since its a down time you only see him in the halloween parade, which i hoped you enjoyed!, or he might just pop out "whenever".

Hope that helped you.

They used to be in a WDW Christmas show at the castle but that was many years ago....haven't seen them since. They are at Tokyo, but in parades/shows only.

1. Who decides which characters appear and when?
-> There is an entertainment management team who determines which characters will appear and when. This may be determined by staffing availability (based on character height), costuming availability (sometimes need to be repaired/replaced), and season.

3. Do the charecters appear on a weekly schedule? Like if you see Horace on Monday expcect him on Tuesday?
->Kind of. Character schedules are posted each week, and many have a permanently assigned entertainer to fill the role. So you will always see Belle and Aurora in France after they have finished their breakfast duty at Askerhaus.

5. Is there a way to find out which characters will be out and where without doing the Chip line thing every morning? Like where those random appearences by obscure charecters will be.
->You can always ask the Charater Attendant. You don't have to wait in line for them :) and they often have radios. Try to be specific about a character, and if they say they don't know, they really don't. Ask who might know and they will probably refer you to an area manager.

I find this site very helpful, and also very cool to see all of the characters....
Even some that no longer do meet and greets!

They also tell you where and when they met the characters...

I hope the owner of this site doesn't mind me posting it here
