Character Breakfast, lunch or dinner, what to do?

I was interested in surpising my daughter (and wife) with a character breakfast with the princesses. I was reading the Unofficial Guide to WDW this morning and they said you would need to book exactly 60 days in advance at 7:00 am when the phones open to get the breakfast in the castle. So I am assuming I am not going to get it because we are under that 60 days already.

The book mentioned doing a lunch or dinner instead because you the mornings are better for touring the parks.

Has anyone done all three (B, L or D)? And if so was one better than the other?

If so, this is the list of who does lunch or dinner:

Chef Mickey's, Conteporary Resort - Dinner
Crystal Palace, Magic Kingdom - Lunch and Dinner
1900 Park Fare, Grand Floridian - Dinner
Garden Grill, Epcot - Lunch and dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern, Magic Kindom- Dinner

Of these the only one that has any mention of a princess is 1900 Park Fare. They say it is Cinderella and Friends. But the book mentions that they have changed it at times and it is all villans and I don't want that.

Anyway, I am babbling. Does anyone have advice on which to go to. And would lunch be better than dinner or vice versa.

And lastly, if for some reason I can still get the breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, should I stick with that?

Thanks in advance.

One thing to keep in mind for Breakfast. You can schedule breakfast before the park opens. Get in before everyone else, eat, and be in the park ready to go as soon as they open.

You do not have but one Breakfast listed in your poll though.

Well, I definitely say TRY to get the breakfast at Cindy's Royal Table. If you can't, then go for 1900 Park Fare, i'm pretty sure they have some princesses. Chef Mickey's usually has the normal Disney characters, and the Crystal Palace has characters from Winnie the Pooh. Liberty Tree Tavern may be a nice one as well, they've got Minnie, Chip n Dale, Pluto, etc. The official WDW website has some info on the restaurants and what characters they'll have.

We ate at the Garden Grill last week with Mickey/Pluto/Chip&Dale the food was good. They brought my daughter macaroni/chicken strips/steak fries in a skillet. Then worms in dirt for dessert. Then tables are all in 1/2 moon booths on a floor that revolves very S-L-O-W-L-Y.

I have also had lunch at the Crystal Palace w/ Pooh. It is a buffet.

Breakfast with Cindy is good, but I honestly don't think you will be able to get a reservation at this date and time.

If I had to pick just one, it would be lunch at the Crystal Palace.

I just tried to book the breakfast in the castle and it is booked.

I booked Liberty Tree for dinner but might change it depending on the responses here.

My concern with the 1900 Park Fare is, I read that they sometimes change the character line up and it can be all villans. I am afraid my daughter would be scared.

My wife and I have eaten at Liberty Tree Tavern every time we go to WDW for lunch. We were going to take my daughter anyway so I think this one might work out.

But I am open to opinions.

Thanks again,
Mike

We had an awesome experience there as well.:) Again, if you go before opening, you get a mini-guided tour on the way to the restaurant (at least they were pointing out things to us on the way).

Keep in mind, people change their plans and cancel their p.s. arrangements. Maybe the day before call again and see if there is room at Cindy's table. Rob makes a good suggestion with the princess breakfast in Norway. However, I hear it is getting just as popular as the one in the Magic Kingdom. You don't have to worry about any more villains showing up at character meals any more. That was a minor disaster for Disney. Too many upset children. People seem to rave about the antics that go on over at Chef Mickey's and apparently the food is good too. No matter what you pick I'm sure it will be a good experience.

This is a good idea. You can search the boards if you want, but I believe this breakfast is alot easier to get into than Cindy's. I did the Cindy's breakfast once and it was fun, but if I want to eat in the castle again I'll probably just book a lunch as that breakfast is just too hard to get into.

Hi there, here is a few tips we learned on our last trip. If you don't have PS for lunch go a 1/2 hour before it opens and ask for the 1st avilable setting (right at 11:30 or noon.) We got in Cinderellas Royal Table for lunch that way. While it is not a chartor meal Cindy is often there in the lobby and we did see and spend time with here. It was great. My 2 year old was in awe. We also got in Crystel place that way, and a good table at Liberty Tree Tavern. Also for the buffets you get fresh food and seating right away.

The next day we went to 1900 park fare for dinner (we made PS a few weeks in advance.) It was completly booked that day so it was good we had the PS. I was also concenred there would be villians so I asked MS (at DVC) when I made the ressies. They assured me that for dinner it is always Cindy, Prince Charming, 2 of the mice (suzie and another) and Fairy Godmother is in the lobby. While a little pricey (around 25 a person, under 3 free and around 11 for under 12) it was WONDERFUL food. Really good, it was worth the money. I loved it. I am thinking about calling and seeing if we can get PS for our next trip in a few weeks, but we just ate there. (however I need some Strawberry soup, it was to die for.)

What meal really depends on what is good for you. Are you breakfest people? Do you like to wake up early? For us it worked out well to get up early (for us on vacation) have a snack on the go, do everything before 11:00 and have an early sit down lunch right when it opened. We were ready for a break then.

It is hard to do PS for dinner for us since we were not 100% postive when DD would take a nap and wake up.

We also like the character meal at the land at Epcot. For breakfest the resort restants can be good, especailly if you are statying at or near one. We like Cape May Buffet at Y&B club.

BTW if you have a 2 year old the all you can eat meals turn out to be a good deal. Under 3 is Free!!!!!!!!!! (Childresn price is under 12 or 12 and under, depending on the place.) Check out http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm for a listing of menus around the world. It is very helpful.

Good luck and have a great trip (less then 2 weeks to go for us.)

Here's my two cents.

If you could get ressies at Cindy's breakfast that's the best option, but unfortunately it's probably too late.
Chef Mickey's is a wonderful meal. Great character interaction. Breakfast or dinner.
If you're looking for princesses you should do the meal at Norway. I've heard it's great. I've heard mixed reviews of 1900 park fare. Some of our party went in October for dinner and did not like it. Having been to Chef Mickeys and Cindy's they thought the character interaction at 1900 PF was horrible. They were also serving seafood that night. I guess the "fishy" smell was really overwhelming.

Good luck!

Thanks all for the responses. As I mentioned I have the Liberty Tree booked for dinner one night. But I also just sent a message to Pam at Kingdom Konsultants to see if she can get us into the Princess breakfast in Norway. I really hope we can get it, because my daughter is so into the Pricesses right now it is crazy. Everything is the Princesses. We will see I guess. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thanks,
Mike

OK, here is what I have done:

I have a few PS's set up.

I set up the CM Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern which has Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Chip or Dale.

But I now also have the Princess Breakfast at Akershus in Norway. My daughter will flip her lid.

Does anyone know if either Belle, Sleeping Beauty or Snow White will be there? I read that it could be a different group all the time. But they seem like the more logical choices that Mulan or Phocohantas. I just want to make sure there is someone she will recognise.

Thanks,
Mike
