I liked Iger more than a lot of people here. Yes he made a lot of bad decisions, but also made a lot of good decisions as well...he did a lot to steer the company in a good direction overall and helped Disney become the juggernaut it is.

Remember it's possible we wouldn't have Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel or Fox (outcome not great yet, I know) without Iger and Disney would be a much smaller company relying on a lot popular less content to keep stable.
Disney also wouldn’t be in the position of firing their CEO on a Sunday night if it wasn’t for Iger.

How’s this for Iger’s first week:

1. Find suitable successor who can be both creative and make money without being a money-grubbing pig.

2. See #1
Maybe save that for Week 3…
Week 1 : Get rid of the Park Reservations, 2:00 park hopping restrictions, and restore free Fastpasses as an immediate gesture of good will.
Week 2: Find a way to bury the hatchet with Florida’s governor and save RCID.
Week 3: Find suitable successor who can be both creative and make money without being a money-grubbing pig.

Maybe Iger was setting Chapek up to be the fall guy?

Annual report prep shows all the doom... They walk Chapek out there to take all the bullets

They let Chapek lead with a big cost cutting agenda... again, take all the bullets... Then dump the body and waltz in with some new Savior Plan that will look even better in the wake of the messages Chapek just had to deliver?
Agree. This was the plan all along. Slappie was never CEO material, so they give him this deal, he gets lots of money and title for a gory short stint knowing upfront it and sent going to last. When the inevitable house of cards came crashing down, he gets kicked out and Iger now can use the excuse that we’ll have to have some negative quarters to invest to make up for “Chapek’s follies.” Let’s hope at least, because otherwise we’re in even worse trouble, but hopefully now Iger has top cover to make the investments needed without suffering the wrath of Wall Street’s myopic quarterly focus.
