The markets are eating their way down the buffet before they hit the emergency exit door at the end.

They won’t repeat the 2008 mistake of staying in too long.

Watch it play.
Markets seem to be on a little upswing lately wait and see if sustainable . Businesses need consumers to keep spending more even to the point of some drowning in debt.

Sales are slowing dramatically and companies are now starting to drown in supply (with some notable exceptions)…

If you sit back and watch, you’ll notice markets are NOT related to sales. Which is why you can’t use it as “proof” of economic health.

Americans are very quickly running out of money…which should grind things to a halt. The market supercomputers that do the trading ignores that.

Relevant to these discussions:

Disney took a dive in an annual corporate reputation rakings by The Harris Poll / Axios. Dropped from 37 to 65, just behind Macy's and Wendy's, but scarcely ahead of EA (!).

It's a little hard to know what to make of a list like that. So Americans have very warm and fuzzy feelings about H-E-B Grocery, Patagonia, and Berkshire Hathaway but are more lukewarm on Nike, Coca-Cola, Disney, and McDonalds? Amazon.com is seen as more ethical than Disney?

I'm not an expert in polling, but I wonder about the methodology of each person rating two companies with which they were particularly familiar and each company getting around 325 ratings. You would probably need to at least try and correct for people who were highly motivated one way or the other for various reasons in their views. Overall, I suspect "brand power" surveys that consider brand awareness as well as simpler matrices of perception on which people are likely to have shared understandings are more useful.

Someone forget to tell the car supplier companies , The local Ford dealer still has supply chain issues like trying to get parts that can’t be made since a number of small business has closed up.

Looking at the reviews for the new Skydance Animation film Luck. Yikes...It's clear that the studio desperately wants to recapture the magic of classic Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, almost in an attempt to spite Disney for forcing Lasseter out of the company.

I am reminded somewhat of the early days of DreamWorks when the studio was making films that were Disney movies in all but branding. You know, before they made Shrek. Prince of Egypt was actually a solid movie, though. The reviews for Luck on the other hand...indicate otherwise.

I don't believe in punishing the many talented directors and animators at Skydance Animation because of John Lasseter's actions, but this is a concerning precedent for the studio's future prospects. Whatever you think of Shrek and its impact on animated films afterward, at least it gave DreamWorks an identity that was distinct from being just Disney-lite or copying Pixar.

I just don't know what Skydance's identity is. How do they distinguish themselves from being just an imitation brand Pixar?

Let's just hope that Chapek gives the folks at Pixar the creative room to refind their footing as a studio. They've made some good efforts so far with director-driven ideas like Turning Red, Soul, and Luca. Lightyear was a bit of a misstep, but they can always try again next time with Elemental.

I agree. I don't know much about Skydance Animation Studios, but I may I have feeling that with John Lasseter working there, I'm afraid the Skydance studios will be in the decline, because of that bully, John Lasseter. I also hope that the next Pixar movie Elemental will be more successful than Lightyear.

Ok…got some repressed Lassiter angst going there?

It still feels really weird how Lasseter went from being the savior of Disney animation to one of the most hated people in the animation industry.
I mean…he was a drunken, touchy lech…no doubt

But there is a visceral hatred by Disney fans that is more than I would think it would be…I don’t fully understand

You don’t understand why people feel strongly about a drunken, touchy lech?
Absolutely…

It’s just a bit heightened for him. You see as much vitriol for him by Disney fans now than you did in the media for Weinstein when it was happening.

It’s more than just the acts I think.
