heres a portion of a recent mgm guide map:

<img src=http://img39.photobucket.com/albums/v121/cowzilla11/random/mgmnewbacklot.jpg>

you can see the new [temporary*] tram route.

not shown in the drawing is the part of the tour where you go through props and wardrobe.. this IS still part of the tour.

*I said temporary because you currently loop around and only through one small archway of the stunt show. When the stunt show construction is complete, the trams will supposedly drive right through the stunt show arena, with the exception of when an actual show is taking place- I expect that it then would use the route it currently takes as an alternate route.

hope this is some help!

Actually, the Backlot Tour was completely torn down! In order for the Motor Stunt Show to fit in the back of the park area they had to get rid of the tour. In a recent map of MGM Studios I seen there was no Backlot Tour in the map, in fact, all it said was [Future Attraction] coming soon! So, they needed to do something about that ride anyway.

ummm...:lookaroun ...nooo. The backlot tour lives, although there isn't much of a backlot left to tour. As said previously, the trams will go through the forthcoming stunt show theater in addition to wardrobe, props, and Catastrophe Canyon.

will someone please go to MGM and check it out!!!???!!!

I love the tour, but the recent maps i have do not have it on there.

I love the tour, but it was getting kinda old to many people, but still, the caynon has to still be there, it's like really expensive, they wouldn't just throw it out!:lookaroun o well, if nothing else have the tour go through costuming, the back of the animation building, and the caynon! that would be ok, i just love the caynon! Someone please find out, WAIT! is it on the site, yep it's till on disneyworld.com, click here for the page, it doesn't say it's not open, I origionally heard they were building the show and just changing the ride, not getting rid of it!

Well it is definitly no longer 2 hours.

Maybe the tour should be removed all together... Or atleast the entrance road should be moved really far from where it is now is there can still be a backlot tour.

But I heard a rumor of the tour going by Rock n Rollercoaster but that never happened.

seriously- listen:

it's there, it's open, and the canyon is still there and working just as it always has been.

the reason it is not on maps from 2 or 3 months ago is because it closed down for residential street demolition, and stunt show arena construction.

because there was no backlot tour for a few months, it was NOT ON THE MAP.

now, it has re-opened, and IS ON THE MAP.

if you can't take my word for it, I will be there TOMORROW. I will ride it, and i will take many, many pictures.. then, when i return from my trip on tuesday, I will happily post them in a 6/11-6/14 WDW update on this website.

this should clear up ANY confusion.. I'm done here.

-sorry for an angry sounding tone, but really, we established the fact that its open and such in the very first reply to this thread.

when I went to disney in August of 2003, we rode the backlot tour. We stood in line for 20 minutes. the ride turned out to be no more than about 7 minutes long. we were taken around the stunt show area, in the canyon the wrong way, through the costume shop the wrong way and then it was over. what a rip off.

There is still a backot tour, I was just there a few weeks ago. They just took away with the houses and there is a different route around the autos of the backlot.

They demolished Residential Street to make way for the theater for the new motor stunt show. I don't believe that they took the buildings down with any intention of ever putting them back up.

What was at the backlot tour that it took two hours? The one at universal hollywood isn't even that long and blows this one out of the water, canyon or not!!! They need to commit to resurrecting this attraction or just get rid of it.
