Changes in MK Holiday Decor

I was at Magic Kingdom today, and the decorations are mostly up around Main Street USA. However, the iconic Christmas tree has been relocated to what seems to be the rose garden next to Cinderalla Castle. I hear this is only temporary until the first week of December. I assume it would then be relocated to the traditional location on Town Square.

My theory:
The train station rehab would be visible when they tape the Christmas Parade in early December. The train station rehab would be completed by mid-late December, and then the tree can be moved.

Any thoughts? Anyone else witnessed the new location fo the tree?

I think you may be right. According to http://www.laughingplace.com/Lotion-View-146.asp, they said the tree will be put back to its usual spot after rehab on the Train Station is complete.

I was at MK on saturday, and was told by 3 Cm's(take it for what its worth) that the reason the tree was put in the rose garden was for backdrop. And the reason for the backdrop was they were getting ready to film a holiday episode of Extreme Home Makeover. Its suppose to be a 2 hour episode about 15 families whos homes they are going to redo. And for some reason, CM's were not able to tell about is some of the families members are unable to go out in the daylight, so they were going to get to play in the park after hours which was 10pm on saturday. And another reason for the trees location is they were going to get a private concert by an unamed band as a special treat. They were warming up and started taping about 10:30 or so as people were still leaving and had developed quite a crowd around that area that security was having problems getting to leave. I saw the members of the band there, but I didnt recognize them unfortunately, and the pics I took came out bad, figures......

It was Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys

Actually it was Mike Love from the Beach Boys. He is also the sole owner of the Beach Boys name (his band played live at the Food and Wine Festival) as he is the main voice heard on all of the big singles from the 60's. Brian Wilson is no longer with the Beach Boys (who broke up after the death of Carl Wilson) and hasn't played live with them since the 60's ended.

Just as a note, the tree that is in the rose garden right now is not the same tree that will be on Main Street.

They need to film the Christmas special first

We were told Friday night after a late dinner at the Crystal Palace (we were the last to leave the part) by a security guard that the tree was temporarily placed in the rose garden because the stage for Regis and Kathie Lee is going to be where the tree normally is. After they are done taping the WDW Christmas show, the tree will be placed in it's normal place.
This makes sense, because then the cameras can leave them, fly over them, and then zoom right in on the parade as it comes down Main Street, as they continue talking. And/or you'll be able to see the parade behind/through them as they speak about it.

I wonder/hope if they will ever bring back the beautiful white trees lit up by blue lights the used to flank each side of the castle. Now that they've cleared the front of the castle, allowing a better view, they should dress it up again.

How long does it take them to put up the tree? I will be there not only the weekend of the filming, but the full week after and I was just wondering how long it would take to move it or put another one up. :xmas:

Well this is what I can tell you.

They did tape an episode for Extreme Home Makeover on saturday night. I can also tell you that as of sunday night there was still a very large christmas tree backstage that might be going in town square. Im not sure though. I havent heard anything about the tree going into place after the parade taping.

That's what was going on? I saw so many people getting off the monorail at MK when we were leaving that I knew something had to be going on!

The Parade Taping is the weekend of the 2nd & 3rd.

So, if that tree does get up and grow legs one night (IF) .... it wont be till after that. The 8th would be my guess.

ALSO.... it is the same tree from last year in Town Square. I checked my photos from last year. Same tree. Whether this means theyre going to have two trees this year, dunno.... But based on what ive been told, i'm infering that there will be a tree in town square by christmas....

Same tree, different location.

Dave~ your right the tree will be growing legs and marching up Main Street sometime the 6th or 7th. It will take it's place in town square for the rest of the season

I was there at about 8pm and was told by one of the Production Assistants that it was Brian Wilson performing. Either she was misinformed or the people in this thread are. ;)
