CGI Video Disappointment

For some reason, I thought that the ride was going to be a water ride similar to Pirates or It's a Small World. The CGI video shows more of a shell/omnimover similar to finding Nemo. That is just stupid. This ride makes much more sense as a boat or even a submarine. Yep, I said it. They should have kept 20k and re-engineered/imagineered it to fit this rides theme. At the very least, they should build it as an underwater ride with new, better submarine ride vehicles. Just my $.02

It was never going to be a water ride, no surprises in the video. They can do far more with the environment using an omnimover.

I actually find the effects on Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage to be LESS effective than on our smaller Seas with Nemo and Friends. I find the water actually spoils the illusion (especially since you are never more than a few feet under water, but also because the projections end up seeming pretty flat and the colors on the animatronics seem muted--you can have much better lighting without a watery environment)--our Nemo ride makes it easier to suspend disbelief and it's far less claustraphobic and far higher capacity. Plus, animatronics can do a lot more (a lot more reliably) when not submerged in water.

Also, a main part of the ride is going from above water to underneath water. So a boat going underwater... well, you get it.

No one will even care what they are sitting in once they sit down anyway.

Lol, well I'm not sure how a boat would work underwater but hey. Lol.

And submarine won't work with the Mermaid theming. Plus, I'm sure TDO doesn't wanna do another submarine ride.

I suggest everyone check the model pics online from the Blue Sky Cellar at DCA. The outside facade is different, but the ride is all the same. Also check out the videos (youtube) of the Blue Sky Cellar video of the LM.

I agree that it would have been cooler as an underwater ride...but I'm still hopeful it will be good.

Personally, I'm just wondering how they'll fit Scuttle, the decent, and Part of Your World in that little cavey thing.

... and why Eric's exploded ship is inside of a cave...

... and why there's so much cave architecture just to get from one scene to the next and nothing goes on in between the scenes...

... and also, when we're in the cave, random pillars come down to mimic the DCA design. Why not just keep the cave theme? It doesn't make sense!!!

Lol, dude it's just a model. I'm sure there will be some very cool elements during the cave scenes. This is Imagineering they'll make it work.

No sarcasm.

I sure hope so, but the carbon copying is so apparent when you see that they basically stuck giant out-of-place Victorian pillars in the cave just to transition into the DCA version of the ride. Why not just leave the cave theme? It doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know what the inside of the DCA version is going to look like, but I believe the pillars you are seeing are meant to represent the foundation of Eric's Castle. I don't remember where, but I'm pretty sure I read that the queue would take you into the caves underneath Eric's castle. At least that was the impression I got when looking at the video.

In Cali, you're supposed to go inside some sort of old pierside aquarium. The same sort of pillars hold up the building and, behind the pillars, a Fantasyland style mural is supposed to be painted. Hopefully the mural does NOT appear in the ride, or else that'll be REALLY out of place.

Video was great, to see 3-d model day by day progression of FLE. A ride thru of the ride and to see a small glimpse of the planning and process any project. He slipped and referred to MGM :ROFLOL:

Just wish he would have been asked about the Yeti.

Nevermind. Just realized this is about the Little Mermaid ride and the CGI video is just that...Computer Generated Images.
