    • I was definitely worried there would be burn out of having a second round with a more niche idea. Almost scrapped the prompt entirely and used my back up “non-theme park ride” prompt (Do a Kingdom Hearts style crossover between video game franchise and animation studio). But there seemed to be enough people having fun with the idea last Voyage that the excitement could carry a second go around. Or at least the ability to work with a different subject matter aside from a theme park attraction would be enough of a change of pace to energize the team a bit to do some extra details aside from the story even if they didn’t care about the story. Unfortunately I kind of overestimated the level of excitement there was and wound up with a very burnt out team that struggled here. Hopefully the next Voyage being more traditional fare will help re-energize the team and if there is anything I can do to help let me know.
    • That being said, even with the burn out, the final project turned out great! Once Tiki and Disney Man locked in they LOCKED IN with the writing. It might be essentially just a Nostalgia Critic Fan Fiction more than anything, but it is legitimately REALLY GOOD Nostalgia Critic fan fiction! With Bee doing a great job finding meaningful ways to contribute even without having interest in writing on this topic any longer.
    • The connection to the ride itself is a little thin considering the prompt was to adapt the ride, but also I feel the connection you had was a really clever one (using the ride and its mixed legacy as the inspiration for the movie getting a sequel). And the alternate timeline you started in Voyage Four was continued here brilliantly in a way that grounds all the insanity. This feels like a real thing that could really happen. Considering the urge for things to never end in the current creative landscape (especially with online entertainment, Red vs Blue has 20 seasons and was still releasing episodes as of December of last year though technically that is just turning the last season which was originally released as a movie into traditional episodes so the show might be over and ended in 2024, but I am doubtful it won’t be back when whatever remains of Rooster Teeth needs more money), it is really nice to think of how to give a proper finale to one of most influential and well known pioneers of YouTube. An ending that both honors the good and acts as an apology of sorts for the bad. An ending that any creative venture would be lucky to have.
    • I am definitely talking more in the intro part of the review than normal simply because this is not an easy review to write. Usually with armchair imagineering (even when working on projects that aren’t theme park attractions) the projects are some form of “Here is my idea and here is the extended elevator pitch of it and here are some bells/whistles to help it stand out” which means that for reviews I can talk about not just the idea itself but also how well the presentation, writing, art, bells, whistles, etc sell the idea. It doesn’t matter much if a drawing is high quality as long as it can help sell the concept. But with this project it is a little different because largely the writing IS the concept. Yes it is pitching a movie and I can critique how well it pitches it as a movie. But largely this is a writing project more than an extended elevator pitch. Which is tougher to review especially because, frankly, it is written by people who are better writers than me. Disney Man One is one of the best writers I’ve ever seen and I’ve been waiting for Tiki to turn his final project from SAVI into an actual novella for nearly 6 years now. So, if the rest of the review is a bit bare bones I apologize and I promise to do my best. Just know that if my review seems basic that is why.
    • The presentation work here is great. Across the board the team took the criticism from the last round and ran with it. Slides helps it stand out, it is not just very readable but also really nice looking. Bits of music in the intro post. The “opening credits” style for the first few slides. I know ya’ll had planned a website but honestly I think Slides was the best way to do it. Bee, you’ve got a good eye for visuals and even if this might not be the most complex or dynamic presentation ever it is a very effective one and is exactly what it needed to be to help make the writing shine!

    • While I’m sure this team also struggled a bit with burn out from working on the same theme again, this team’s biggest issue was communication. Who was doing what was never clear. There was a lot of people asking questions but no one answering them. If someone is writing something other players need to see before they can write their parts, it goes a LONG way to help to post an outline before you start writing that way the rest of the team can start their parts based on the outline while you work on your part. If you don’t have the time/availibility/interest to finish the section you agreed to work on it helps a LOT to just send a quick message to let your team know so that way someone else can fill in for that role. It’s ok to have a busy week or a week you aren’t as into. It happens to everyone. This is a game after all and real life has to come first. But just a quick minute or two to check in and communicate goes a long way to making sure things go smoother for your teammates.
    • That being said, despite the communication and availibility issues this round the final project turned out AMAZING! Making a Little Golden Book was an incredibly clever angle to take this that feels both super fun and super realistic. Plus, it is EXTREMELY rare for an armchair imagineering project to be able to result in just more or less creating what you are pitching. Some of the art is more placeholdery edits or screenshots than you’d see in a real Little Golden Book, but for the most part this just is the real thing you were pitching! Even down to it being presented as a book! That is so cool!
    • Because of the nature of this just kind of being the real book, it will also be a tough one to review. Like I mentioned in Citrus’s Review: I am definitely talking more in the intro part of the review than normal simply because this is not an easy review to write.
    • I’ll do my best to provide feedback and talk about how it works as a proof of concept for a real Little Golden Book. But really just expect a lot of “This is really cool!” I promise this being a shorter review is not a sign of it being a worse project just that I have less to say. You did great work here!
    • The presentation is what makes this project special! The visuals here are great! Not just the flip book and the edits/screenshots but also the concept art by Outbound. The whole team did a great job at understanding the assignment here and working together to make it special. The project could’ve felt really gimmicky but you nailed it in a way that made it feel genuine instead of just a cheesy gimmick. Loved the way ya’ll handled this one!

The Winner of the 40 Quarter Voyage is...

Team Cocoa & Team Citrus!

This was a round both teams struggled with in different ways, yet both teams excelled and made something incredible! I was debating who to give it to, but honestly both projects wound up being not just so distinct from each other but also so unique in format of armchair imagineering projects even compared to past non-theme park rounds where movies/plays/and games have been pitched. It isn't like comparing apples to oranges. It's like I came here to judge a fruit competition and one team brought me an expertly cooked plate or pasts while the other team gave me a perfectly baked chocolate chip cookie.
As much as I hate ties in these games both as a player and as a host, I allow myself one each season and I think this really is the best time to use it considering how well both teams did at doing what they set out to do! I'm sorry this wound up being a more challenging Voyage than expected for the players, but for me as the host it was one of the most unexpectedly fun to read! So, maybe the real winner is @Pi on my Cake lol

Remember, the Navigator of the winning team gets a Golden Pizza Moon. Granting @Architectural Guinea Pig and @Brer Panther immunity from elimination this Voyage. In addition, all previous Golden Pizza Moon Winners are immune as this is the first true elimination.

With that we come to our first elimianation. Though they are more than welcome to hop in and help with writing their own reviews as a guest judge if they want to stay involved! I'd love to have them!
Sadly, it is time to say goodbye to one of our Imagineers.

@Half/CartoonHalf/Human

You show a ton of promise and I'd love to see you play again in the future! But you never really found your footing in how to engage with your team or how to be a part of group projects throughout the game. When you clicked with a concelt like your FNAF restaurant you did great work! You just need to find a way to connect with the rest of your team more and find ways to stay involved even when working on smaller aspects of a larger picture and then you'll be a great future imagineer!

With a player eliminated, that means that all previous Pizza Moons have been used. Which means no one has immunity moving forward. Everyone is on equal footing again.

Good luck, Voyagers

Welcome to the Fourth Galaxy
n08OjF5.png

Celestial Dreamin' will be divided into 6 Wondrous Galaxies with each new Galaxy adding a new twist or element to the gameplay.

The fourth Galaxy we encounter is named: The Bigger Dreams Galaxy! It was recently leaked out/rumored that Imagineers were told to essentially scrap their plans for the Villains Land at Magic Kingdom. Not because they were bad or because the project is cancelled, but because new CEO Josh "Joshy Boy" D'Amarro wants them to Dream Bigger.

MKVILLAINS-scaled.jpg

There will be 2 Imagineering Expeditions in this galaxy with a focus on dreaming bigger! Taking what we've been told is happening and stepping it up a notch. Let's get crazy with it!

There will be at least two eliminations during this Galaxy, and this will be the last Galaxy with traditional two team gameplay. So, let's give it our all!

Now, let's take a look at our current teams!

Imagineering Expedition #06

jJ8zJNF.png

Joshy "Josh D'Amarro" Boy wants us to dream bigger. So, let's do that!

--What you need to know--

villains-land-magic-kingdom-location-1-800x448.jpg

There are major changes on the way to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney world. Frontierland is being essentially fully redeveloped to both allow easier access to HUGE new expansion pads as well as to add in a new Cars themed area. Cars is locked in, but the big expansion pad has its plans currently a bit in flux.

While patents don't always fully represent the final product and only tell part of the story... From what we've seen the current plan for Villains Land is a very solid ACE Land. But they're dreaming bigger now and so should we!

--The Prompt--

cars-piston-peak-villains-land-building-locations-layout-mk-disney-wdw-1.jpg

Pitch a New Land for the Magic Kingdom in the planned space where Villains Land is expected to Open

You can keep the villains theme and put your own spin on it OR you can start fully from scratch with your own ideas!

While the Cars/Piston Peak remodel of Frontierland is set in stone, everything beyond that is up to you!

There will be one elimination at the end of this round from the losing team as well as a fabulous prize for the winning team!

--Team Navigators--

If your team wins, the Navigator will be granted a Golden Pizza Moon and immunity from the next Elimination.

Team Citrus - @DisneyManOne
Team Cocoa - @WaltWiz1901
