Cbr ?

Good Morning!! I'm starting my Sunday off well - helping a friend with their upcoming Disney vacation!! :sohappy:

They are staying at CBR - a Pirate room - 2 boys age 5 (twins) so they are going for the bday and an infant - also a boy. I've looked up info on the resort for dining and the pools etc - but I have never stayed here. Any "insider" info you can help me with?? One more question - about getting around the CBR - is there a boat that you can take anywhere? Or is it just getting around via the busses?

I don't know how much insider information there is to offer, since it is just a somewhat standard moderate resort. Something that is fun, that isn't really advertised, is the party that sometimes takes place in Old Port Royale. When I went there for lunch one day, I walked in and immediately had to limbo. They were handing out Lei's and playing lots of music. Not sure how often this happens, but it seems like it would be a common midday occurrence.

There is no boat transportation in the resort (there is only a lake in the middle that won't take you anywhere). The best way to get around the resort is on foot. The buses aren't there to get you around the resort as much as they are to get you to different places on property. If they figure out how the loop works however, they can use the buses to get around.

The CBR is a great resort for families. If your friend doesn't want to walk around the resort, there is an internal resort shuttle bus. But, that can take up some time since they'll have to wait at a bus stop for a bus. The resort ground are so pretty that we never minded the walk.

I actually timed our walk from the village where the pirate rooms are located and it took me just 6 1/2 minute to get to Old Port Royale.

The kids' chicken nugget meal comes in a plastic sand pail with shovel that the kids get to keep. This comes in handy when playing on the beaches.

Our son did get to take part in the limbo with castmembers in Old Port Royale. He won and got a certificate. When we were there in August, they had several family activities that took place around Old Port Royale.

I don't know if the kids would be interested or not but there is a pirate cruise that leaves from the CBR marina and takes them around the resort. They serve lunch and the kids get to go on a scavenger hunt with the castmembers. Parents can keep a watch on the kids too since the lake isn't large enough to actually lose sight of the boat.

The main pool was recently redone and it has a pirate theme complete with a kids pay area. Really cool!

We liked walking around the island in the middle of the lake. There were picnic tables, hammocks and benches on the island. A great place to get away for a bit.

We have stayed at the CBR three times and loved it each and every time. Your friends is sure to fall in love with the resort too!

Does anyone have any links to photos? I am thinking of booking my sister and her family in the Pirate rooms, I'd just like to see some photos. Is it worth the distance?

Here is a copy of the resort map:

Starting out, it is a little strange as check in is at a separate building removed from the lodging (Customs house)

Location of food court, shops and main pool is at Old Port Royal, Centertown. There is a separate pool for each "Island group"

Only transportation is busses, car would be helpful here.
Pirate rooms are in Trinidad south (top of map)
