What is all that whirly metal type stuff going around the spires? (not the gold, but the silverish in color)
Thats Tink's pixie dust trail. She will be at the end of that near the top.

The silvery swirls are made up of those little round silvery sparkly discs tacked on side by side. They flutter in the wind and it makes them sparkle. When we were there last it was the first sunny day in a while and you could see the sparkles all the way from the monorail as you came out of the Contemporary Resort. I love the sparkles!

I agree with everyone. This is turning out to be quite beautiful, elegant, and classy. I love it more and more everyday. Way better than the giant pink pastry incident. And this beautiful design isn't even celebrating this park! I hope on WDW's next big anniversary, something as classy as this is included and not something that reminds us of Pepto-Bismol or anything like that. Like a CM I know and love used to say, "Giant cake, big mistake."

Overall of Wendy & PeterLook!!! I found Peter's shadow!!!!!!!!:sohappy:
(It's hiding a little in this shot, but there it is, nevertheless!)

By the way, I LOVE the idea of the Cheshire Cat's smile lighting up at night! Are any of the decorations anticipated to light up at night? I guess that goes along with my previous question about whether or not wishes will be any different for the celebration . . .

Thanks for the awesome pictures. The closeups really help highlight the details on all of the golden characters. And that stage is gorgeous! Yep, definitely turning out better than the cake (And I'm one of the few who liked the cake!)

Speaking of WDW's Birthdays, they obviously skipped the 30th because it was the same time as Walt's 100th. The 35th starts October 2006...and the 50th Celebration will still be going on, right? Wonder what they'll do for that....Maybe keep the castle decorations for the 35th? :)

A giant Mickey tail behind Cinderella Castle! Then the final tally will be...

--Mickey's armpit, hand, and wand over SSE

--Mickey's ears and hands at the Studios

--Mickey's tail at Cinderella Castle

Basically all that will be left is Mickey's nose and feet.

Poor Mickey. He must be a mutiliated mouse by now.:dazzle:

How long are they going to keep the castle this way? I hope it stays for a long time so I get to see it. I won't get to go for a couple more yrs.

I've been coming to these forums for quite some time to see the great pics that Don and others contribute. Thanks for keeping those of us who can't be there currently "up to date" on happenings around WDW through your photographs.

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on how they are still going to get Tinkerbell on top of the castle now that the crane has been removed from the castle area? Also to add to the question about things lighting up, has anyone else noticed that their appears to be strobe lights mounted all of the up and down slats of the mirror frame, if anyone has a real closeup shot of it to see...

The crane was removed for at least 2 weeks. Cinderellabration is rehearsing for the next few weeks after hours and they can do no work on the castle while rehersals are going on due to safety. So it was decided to remove the crane and take down the wall for a few weeks. After that the crane will return for some final touch ups including the installation of Tinkerbell.

I guess they want Tinkerbell to be the finale of the character installations. Can't blame them, though!

Does anyone have any insight as to why these characters were picked to display on the castle?

Lion King, and Lil mermaid I can understand. But the Gargoyles and the Jungle Book secondary characters seem like very odd choices.
