Castle Progress-Characters Added!!!!

I kind of like the gargoyles. They "fit in" to the setting. And it makes it kind of cool that not all characters are totally recognizable. . .

But very *INTERESTING* choice of characters.

It is nice that some of the characters are not the most recognizable or popular......

I'm glad to see that the character additions are being tastefully done, not huge and overpowering like I was first expecting. I think it will look good! Great pics from those who posted them!

That's what I meant. Hunchback is actually one of my favorite modern Disney films, but it seems odd seeing the gargoyles next to the Disney greats.

Exactly what I had been thinking about the gargoyles. I definitely think they fit into the setting. Much of the Eurpean medieval architecture (which I think is what the castle is a recreation of. Isn't there a real castle in Europe that this was modeled after?) had gargoyles. In that sense, the gargoyles sorta fit in the best.

I don't really think a lot of disney 'greats' are up there. I wouldn't label Kaa, Flounder, or the Chechire Cat as Disney Greats. The only 'great' up there is Peter Pan and Tink.

"Disney Greats" = Famous characters from popular classics. But that's not important, anyway.

I made a visit to MK today and had a chance to see the castle transformation...it's looking pretty good so far. The Kaa statue fits in nicely in my opinion. The Pumbaa, Timon and Flounder statues were up today too.

Hey,

Without sounding critical, because I'm not - who decided what characters to pick? Were they guests favourites in a secret poll? Often wondered what those marketing guys were upto with their electronic pads!

I was hoping to see Lumiere and Cogsworth up there. They have it about 90% right in my book. Most of the characters are suited up there, except Flounder - he's a fish! Or is he now a flying fish? Kaa is fine because he could have slithered up (although he is a villain).

By the look of it, it will be just right, and shouldn't distract from Sleeping Beauty's Castle makeover for DL, afterall it is their 50th! WDW will get there chance in 15 or so years, but I ain't thinking about that coz I am the same age as WDW :lookaroun

Does anyone know, I can't really tell from the pics I have seen, but the twisty spiraly wires wrapped around the spires and turrets, they look like they are going to sparkle and light up at night - are they?

I was hoping for that but curently, it does not appear so. The spirals are just metal rods that have sequences on them. I'm hoping Disney surprises us and puts fiber optic lights on it.

Hmmm... if more statues are up, then I might have to make a trip on Tuesday morning. That would be the earliest I can see myself getting there, since I am just going to be busy the next couple of days. We'll see...
