On my first CP I started out as a Housekeeping Resort Runner at the Grand Floridian then got trained as a Dispatcher after I got hurt (but I still did Runner at least once a week). For my second CP I went to Tomorrowland Attractions- Buzz Complex which cover Buzz, CoP, TTA, Astro, Stitch.

I worked for Disney off and on for 4 years. When I was hired I was told that I seemed able to be in a speaking role and given the choice of Jungle Cruise at MK (would have done it except for the heat), Voyage of the Little Mermaid at MGM or Exxon Energy Exchange at EPCOT. Animal Kingdom hadn't even broken ground yet.

I chose the Energy Exchange. I remembered it from Communicore and knew it was inside somewhat interesting.

On my second day of Traditions, I was given directions to EPCOT costuming where I met my trainer and was fitted for my costume. My trainer asked me if I knew where I was assigned. I told him Exxon Energy Exchange. He told me that the Energy Exchange was the business unit. He informed me that EPCOT has business units that are groups of attractions, merchandise and food all operating as one. I would be working on Living with the Land. My heart sank. I remembered as a kid being bored to tears on the ride and having to listen to that song over and over. I expressed my concern with my CT and he informed me that the ride had just gone through a rehab and the song no longer exists. I told him it was cool as long as I get to drive a boat. He said the boat is in a fixed canal. "Well, at least I get to pretend to drive the boat", I replied. "They removed the controls you just give the tour."

I was inoformed that I would not start my training until the following week but was able to pick up floating shifts where ever they need me. The first day I was sent to the unload area of Body Wars and was given all the handsignals for the operations as well as the visual signs that someone is about to barf. It was there where I had my first guest get mad at me and scream. A few days prior a little girl had passed away on the ride and I had not known. In pod #2 there was a seat covered in a black bag because the seat was malfunctioning. The guest came up to me and asked if that was the seat the little girl died in. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about and that the chair was simply broken. He proceeded to yell at me for attempting to hide the truth of what happened. I asked another CM what the man was talking about and he informed me about the unfortunate event.

Throughout the week I worked the Tip Board, strolled the park for guest realtions, worked as a greeter at Spaceship Earth and the Living Seas .

A week later I was taken to the Land and introduced to the ride as well as the SOP for the attraction. It took about a week but by the end I had the entire tour in my head and was ready.

I worked the ride off an on for those four years. During the holidays I picked up extra shifts all over from the commesary at MGM to Lumier's at MK.

so are some of you saying that Disney was not that good to work at?

Hi, especially those that left Disney, was Disney not that good to work at? or did you not like living in Orlando or the area.. I know that Orlando has deterated over the past 30 years.. I was really shocked by driving down I believe "orange Blossom Drive from the old hotel that we used to stay at.. How within blocks of the very nice malls and such, the adult clubs, and the very poor neighborhoods were just blocks away..

So did you leave disney because of the work at disney or other outside reasons?

and I would really like to know what living conditions are in this area.
are they safe? can you raise your kids there safely? is it safe to walk the streets at night? I guess that I really want to know...

and if this town is slipping that much, why isn't Orlando doing something about it.. I mean, My wife and I went to New York City.. Not an adult store left in Time Square.. and we walked back to the hotel after the show from TIME Square at night. .and this was like 2 miles..

I really would like to know the truth.. thanks bjlc

Can I play? I worked at Disneyland.
Ah heck, I'm going to play anyway. I started out in ticket sales at the Main Gate in 1994, which also included working the change booths at the Penny Arcade and the Starcade. From there I moved to Tomorrowland attractions, where I worked the Peoplemover, Star Tours, and the Submarine Voyage. I might still be there today, but when summer began in 1996, they basically told me that if I couldn't give them at least 40 hours a week, they no longer needed me. At the time I was already working another 40+ hour a week job where I was paid quite a bit more, and anything more than 20 at Disneyland would have killed any chance I would have had for a life. Knowing that once the summer ended the hours would disappear, I chose to stick with the job that really paid the bills. Disneyland was an incredible experience, one I'd love to do again, but I just couldn't live on the pay. Maybe if I'm ever able to retire (or if I should become a millionaire...as if), I might try to go back in whatever capacity they'd be willing to accept me.

I started at Pecos Bills and eventually became a trainer there which was fun. Now I'm in entertainment and very excited but actually a little dissapointed that I don't get to talk to the guests as myself, only in character, I loved talking to guests and telling them about my job at Disney and hearing about their vacations.

My CP Job

 I was College Program Intern from June 2001 to January 2002. I worked in MK Adventureland Merchandise. I worked most of my time in the advertureland half of the land (near Magic Carpets of Aladdin). The smaller portion of the time was spent in Pirates Merchandise.

Also, at different times I have worked Merchadise in Fantasyland, Frontierland and Liberty Square. I even worked a few shifts at Casey's Hot dogs.

It was one of the best experiences of my life. (But9/11 happened when I was there and they were not hiring many full timers then-- otherwise I would have stayed)

Nicole

(Too many trips to remeber)

But Next one is 5/13/07-5/21/07 -- HONEYMOON!!
