You know, so much on here is negative or comes with the thought that "Disney doesn't care" or "TDO is just in it for the money", so I thought I would share some recently released stats from Public Relations, all from 2010:

228,000 hours were volunteered by CMs of all levels

3.35 Million donated by CMs of all levels to United Way, NOT including the company match

almost 29,000 toys donated to Toys for Tots

$627,000 in grants to local organizations, made by the company on behalf of CMs

68 injured sea turtles assisted following the Gulf oil spill

15,000 phone calls taken for the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon by 400 volunteer CMs

Always good to spread some cheer :)

Considering the size of Disney, that's not very impressive. And considering it's all about the CMs, that doesn't actaully say anything about Disney as a Company. Those CMs most likely would have donated no matter who they worked for. (Just putting things in perspective).

There are names for ppl like the above poster...sadly it'd get moderated! Disney and its CMs do a lot for various charities. Fosse...U fail

To say that these workers would have done this is really not entirely true. I worked for Disney, and they promote helping the local community more than any other company I've ever worked for. between Make a Wish, and Volunt'ears', you have all the opportunity to contribute for which other companies do not provide.

Not old, just vintage.
I don't agree that these CMs were likely to have done this no matter where they work. My job raises money for United Way by offering us the chance to automatically donate money from our paychecks. I imagine there is a similar option available for Disney CMs. Having an automatic payroll deduction is very convenient and if it wasn't for that I most likely wouldn't think to donate money on a regular basis. It's just not something that is at the front of my brain at all times.

You must be a real pleasure to know in real life.

The sixty thousand Cast Members at Walt Disney World who may lend a hand or donate to make a difference in the community should be applauded. Some may not have without corporate initiatives, some might have. Nevertheless a big shout out to those CMs!

The few individuals who have a large say in how Walt Disney World stagnates and downgrades offerings? No amount of PR fluff can help the mismanagement of Team Disney Orlando. Walt had a critical eye. He was optimistic. He took financial risks. Where is TDO's backbone?

Corporate culture can have a huge impact on people's inclinations to give - of their time and of their money. I have worked for organizations that did not care about contributing to the community, and have also tried to engage them in it...to no avail.

This is a commendation on both TDO and each Cast Member who has donated time, money, toys, or anything else to help those in need :sohappy:

Yup, the same option is available to CMs. I'm really proud of the emphasis Disney places on volunteering and helping out the local community. I've had the opportunity to be part of several major VoluntEAR projects and will, in fact, be helping build a playground as part of Disney VoluntEARS next week.

By the way, in response to Fossee76, it's not just individual CMs donating. The company also makes very sizable donations to major charities both local and worldwide.

What a big stinky turd of a thing to post. Big. Stinky. Turd.

My balance of goodwill was almost toppled by badwill in this post singlehandedly by you.

I know my fellow posters will overcome your charm with a beyond equal but opposite reaction.

I really hope someone is available to poo poo all over this good news.

Well done in contributing both globally and locally TWDC...

Not poo poo- "put into perspective."

I've also read how Disney has taken great lengths to get any International CMs out of Japan with no penalty in terms of their contracts, and at no expense to the CMs either. Stepping up all the way around....
