What is your best experience with a cast member?
I have never been a huge fan of the Jungle Cruise until I got the best skipper. She was great! The whole time all I did was laugh.

I have a few good experiences:

1) One day at AK, I rented a stroller, but the brakes on it were broken. The brake bar on the stroller kept falling down & the stroller would abruptly stop while I was pushing my son. A castmember named Rick just happened to notice the trouble I was having with it. He told me to stay right where I was - 2 minutes later he returned with another stroller. Two days later we saw Rick at MGM, and he stopped to talked to us - He even remembered our names. I thought that was nice. Two days later we were at MGM again, and guess who we saw! LOL He chatted with us awhile this time too. I wonder if we will see him during our next trip.

2) During our last trip, my little sister bought one of those pretty parasols from a shop in China in the World Showcase. About an hour later it broke, so we returned to the shop to see what they could do. One of the castmembers presented my sister with a brand new parasol, plus 2 plush toys - one of the hyenas from the Lion King and Maleficent. That made my sister's day.

3) We were on Tom Sawyer's Island in the MK near Aunt Polly's when Mickey & Minnie suddenly came around the corner and scared me half to death. They had a good laugh about that & then went on their way. A few minutes later we decided to take the raft back over. Mickey & Minnie were on it. The castmember who was with them spotted me and said "That young lady up there needs to have her picture taken with Mickey & Minnie!" He invited me down to the raft, Mickey & Minnie gave me big hugs, and the castmember snapped our picture. That was the first day of our trip and it was certainly a great beginning to an awesome vacation!

My best experience has got to be from the GMR at MGM. The group I was with waited for the front row and I ended up sitting right next to our guide. I had the best time just talking to him. I asked him questions about what the job was like and the such and just had a great time. He told me that the first ever female gangster had started that day and I just got a lot of insight into the ride. Even though GMR is kind of a "ride-it-once" attraction, I SO wanted to keep doing it, just so I could talk with our guide. He made my day completely.

there have been just way too many wonderful times that were due to CM's I cant list them all !! But I do remember one at the emporium, who made a bit of a big deal about my oldest granddaughters singing voice .. Lisa is always singing ( we think she has a beautiful voice but we think both our granddaughters are perfect in every way ) One other time when she was smaller she became a part of one of the street scenes in the studios and they had her singing .. it drew a nice big crowd in fact. :)

I do what I can. :)

It's funny how creating Magical Moments for guests can also create memories for us cast members. I have so many... it's great :)

Interacting with the Disney characters always makes me smile, but one time it gave me a little lump in my throat.

I volunteered to guide a group of challenged children around the park.

I was partnered with a girl named Kathy. Kathy had Down Syndrome, and didn't talk much. So we went around the park, enjoying the rides. She saw a "princess meet an greet" and she perked up when she saw Snow White.

Once we got up there, Kathy was so excited to see Snow White, she wouldn't stop talking. She told her about her family, and her dog, and tried to name the dwarves. Snow White listened intently taking it all in. She truely interacted with this little girl. It was hard getting Kathy away, but other children were waiting. So I told Kathy we'd come back.

So, we ate lunch, and wandered around, and we came by the meet and greet again. Snow White wasn't there, but Jasmin was.

So we stood in line. But before she could talk, Jasmin asked if her name was Kathy. Jasmin already knew who she was. Snow White had told Jasmin to look out for her.

I thought it was truely remarkable that, with all the children these Princesses see, they not only remembered Kathy, but remembered all her details and passed them along.

For the rest of the day, this little girl talked non stop. Kathy relayed her Princess story to anyone who'd listen.

My CM memory is of myself as a CM. I had lots of Magical Moments, it was probably the best experience of my life.

One fo the best was this: I was on a day off, in a bus, going from MK to MGM. Sitting next to me was a mom with her little daughter, and the girl had this really long face. I couldn't help myself, so I asked her what was going on. The mom told me the girl was upset because they had just been to Ariel's Grotto and she had noticed that Ariel's voice was different from what she knew. So I told her: "Hey, do you remember in the movie when Ursula stole Ariel's voice, and it took her a long time and a lot of work to get ir back?" She said yes. "Well, since she doesn't want that to happen again, she disguises her voice to fool Ursula." The girl's face suddenly lit up, and she was just so happy and relieved! And her mom was really pleased, and thanked me a lot.

Things like this were worth all the garbage I had to mess with... :animwink:

On my trip last year with my sister we had been trying like crazy to get our picture with Mickey, but either we kept missing him or there were just too many people in line. We were at AK... we were next in line... and then Mickey's escort said, that's it, that's all for now and started to walk away. Mickey saw our disappointment, stomped his big foot, made her come back and take our picture. I must say it is one of our fav's, Mickey is in his Safari outfit and we are grinning like, well, idiot's!

On spaceship earth once on of the castmembers noticed I had a pin from Soarin over California @ DL. He was so excited to talk to someone who had also rode the ride and gave me a pin he has in is pocket. (not disney pin but a collectible car pin) I thought that was really cool.

Also I saw my first Pluto(my favorite character) sighting at AK. I was so excited to see him. And in front of me was a girl with Down's Syndrome in a wheelchair. The way she lit up when Pluto interacted with her put tears in my eyes. I was so excited to see him, but when it was my turn I got really shy. So pluto acted shy too. It was so funny and also my favorite character (CM) experience. :sohappy:

I remember when I was in Epcot on my last trip in February. We were walking through France and stopped to see one of the "living" statues. People were walking up to have their pictures taken, when they did the statue would move and make funny poses for the picture. Then, a young girl with down syndrome walked up to the statue not realizing that it was a real person. When the girl walked up to the statue, the statue put her hand on the girl's shoulder, at that moment the girl realized the statue was a real person, her eyes lit up, and she gave the statue a huge hug. The statue returned the hug and then gave her a small kiss on the cheek. At the same moment the theme music in the area swelled to a crescendo coincedentally in the background, it was the ultimate "Disney" moment, everyone in the crowd started to tear up, including me.

Last december I was at WDW alone and had many great CM experiences. The best was riding BTM, the CM asked "how many in my party" of course my reply was "1" so I asked if she wanted to ride with me? and she did! it was so cool, her name was Samilee, and it really made my day. She gave me 3 or 4 fast passes I could use thoughout my stay but, I kept coming back to BTM but I never saw her again. she was the great, (and cute).

Oh my goodness -- too many to count. CMs can really make (or break) a day at Disney!

One of my favorite CM moments was at Chef Mickey's. We were there for the last seating of the night and when our waitress found out we'd just gotten engaged, she got the whole gang together (I believe it was Mickey, Minnie, Goofey, Chip & Dale) and we got our picture taken with all of them! It's my favorite picture from Disney not including our wedding photos.

I'd also like to mention an amazing CM here -- Ken Weaver -- who was our wedding coordinator! He just did everything and made it magical and amazing. Little things, like having scissors handy to cut some balloon string at the end of the night and getting a new rose for our best man in less than ten minutes when his decided to bloom during our formal photos. Ken was amazing!

I've been going many years and haven't had any major interactions with any of the CMs. (I'm kinda shy around new people). Anyway.. I just thought I'd throw in that seeing so many of them happy and smiling at you when going to rides and walking around that it adds to the magic of going to WDW. It's part of what makes me not want to end my vacations!

I can't tell you how sad it is to see people frowning and acting like you are bothering them at their jobs here in NJ. It's so refereshing to see people who can smile and be nice and act like they care about the guests.

:p

Both times my daughter met Peter Pan were great. He is her favourite character! First time, he picked her up and took her to meet the princesses (bypassing a huge line!).
Last year we had trouble finding Peter, but a very helpful CM told us where and when he might be around. We went to the place (POC) and he still wasn't there. The CM remembered that Francesca adored Peter and went backstage to see what she could do. About 10 minutes later Peter appeared and started frantically looking for something - in bushes, behind pillars etc. Then he "spotted" Francesca and said "Francesca - it's you! I knew that you'd come back to see me!" The CM had told him her name and what she was wearing so that he could pick her out! It was great! My Mum and Dad were with us that time and they cried and cried to see her so happy! Both times I wrote thank you notes to Peter and the CMs involved and left them at City Hall. Do these ever get passed on? I really wanted the people involved to know that we appreciated what they did and couldn't think of how else to let them know.
