Cast member Discounts on Hotels??

I was hoping a cast member would tell me what the % discount they receive is on a room only reservation. My friend is starting at WDW (attractions) in September and asked me to come for a visit in November. He said he thinks the discount is 50%-sounds a bit high to me. Also, is there a "waiting period" or probationary period before he can make that first discounted ressie?

The percentage that you get off depends on the availability at the resorts and the number of discounted rooms left.
Cast members who are staying in the room and checking in can get up to 50% off resorts.
Cast members who are not staying in the room and can get up to 40% off resorts.
Last year november was in the Cast Holiday discount period, which means if your friend stays in the room with you and checks in, can get up to 60% off resorts.

the "waiting period" is about 3 days after he checks in. you get all the discounts as soon as you get your cast member id at traditions, which is 3-4 days after check in. go on the hub and go to resort room discounts. and yes, it is 50% off. i have done it before.

It can be 50% off. I am staying at AKL in Aug, and was able to get 50% off the room. It is awsome!

How far in advance did you have to book the room? Do the CM rooms fill up far in advance or are they released closer to the actual dates?

I booked it back in May, before I left. But CMs can book far in advance (I recommend this, as you get more choices).
