Anyone know what’s up with Casey JR. & Storybook? I noticed it’s been and will be closed for most of the year. Is this a major refurbishment? Mothball? Related to Studios construction somehow?

Just curious.

Thankful to report it’s in great shape! I love it so much! Obviously not quite as charming as the original but it’s quite close!

I don’t know why every castle park doesn’t have this - it’s so simple and so fun! I’m glad it’s been recently refurbished for me to enjoy on my first trip.

Besides being a downgrade visually, the replacement of Oz with Up doesn't really fit with Storybookland.

But I guess it's part of a broader effort to include more Pixar in Disneyland Park. A few years ago, there was Buzz Lightyear, some random character statues, and that was it. Now we have the Luca dining room at the Fantasyland Pizzeria, the Coco rebranding of the Mexican restaurant in Frontierland and this too.

Personally, the lack of Pixar was not a problem for me. We already have lots of Pixar at the park next door, but this is Iger's Disney now and his brands must be everywhere at all times. Still, a movie like Brave would have be more appropriate for this ride. Most of Pixar's movies are contemporary in setting, and just don't fit the aesthetic or lineage of "Storybook".

I never considered Brave but that's such a good point! Especially it'd play well to all of the Scottish / UK visitors DLP attracts. From what I understand, the entire reason Oz and then Up were included was for the sake of having a US 'fairy tale' to go alongside the many European ones that are already on show, for the benefit of those international visitors, who do visit DLP too, just less than Brits on average.
