Wonderful pictures! Seeing all the fantastic stuff on Carsland (including the on-ride video last night), makes me forget how awful Cars 2 was and how I'm really not into the first one to begin with. That's an achievement! And BVS is great too.

Oswald is destined for stardom. If Disney is smart, it'll make a movie based on Epic Mickey. It'd be a huge hit, I'm positive about that.

Oh, and that impressive bit of confectionery is called The Big Rock Candy Mountain. :)

Food in Cars Land is fun. We had drinks from the Cozy Cone Motel (the chili "cone" queso cone, to be exact). Laura had the pomegranate lemonade & vodka with some weird foam on top and I had a Diet Coke in the souvenir cone sipper ($8.99 for 16oz, $11-something for the larger one). These things are so cool, and EVERYONE was buying them. They are going to be big, big sellers. I'm calling them Disney's answer to Butterbeer, personally. :p

I wish we'd had more time to try some of the food items at the cones, but it was too close to dinner.

We had dinner at Flo's V8 Cafe. Laura had the turkey with gravy, peas & carrots, pasta salad, and a biscuit, while I had the pork loin with Coca-Cola BBQ sauce, mashed potatoes, and a biscuit. I really enjoyed my meal. Laura not so much, but only cuz she was mad that the side offerings were limited to "yucky" things and they wouldn't allow her to have macaroni & cheese (a kid's meal) as a side. :p The theming inside is great and offers some awesome views of the Cadillac Range from the Motorama Girls dining room or patio next door. Prices weren't bad either… the two meals, a chocolate milk, and a bottled water were $25 after AP discount.

Finally, the rides and shops.

- Radiator Springs Racers was phenomenal. It was Test Track on a whole 'nother level. The AAs made it for me, honestly… Mater, Doc Hudson, anyone with the physically moving mouths were insane. I'm glad they were able to pull it off. The projected mouths on Lightning McQueen, Sally, Luigi, etc. were pretty lame in comparison, though. About the only thing I wish was that the ride were a tad bit longer. It all happened so quickly!

The other thing to watch out for is the breakdowns. Oh boy, everyone on the West Coast now gets to experience what EPCOT has dealt with since '97. I'm not sure if it was the ride system itself or problems in the dark ride portion or what. The first time we waited (posted 70 min., actually 90+) it broke down twice. Not sure what happened the first time but the second time it went down was while we were in the load area and they said the lighting went off in the whole building. They just kept sending empty cars around for 20 mins. or so until the lights came back on everywhere. We also tried to ride it again before World of Color, but it was down. We came back after and it was running, but some of the animatronics weren't working like the second Mater and the tractors.

- Luigi's Flying Tires was a blast - I don't care what anyone else says. Those things can move! And it's just a really fun ride. Super nice queue, too. The lines will suck, but it's worth a visit.

- Mater's Junkyard Jamboree was also a highlight. The queue was well done, the songs are cute, and it's hilarious to hear Larry the Cable do the Spanish safety spiel.

- We visited every shop. All were nice, but nothing really stood out besides Ramone's. Sarge's Surplus Hut was cool and had a lot of Cars toys and other merchandise. Radiator Springs Curious was extremely disappointing as it was just generic Disney Parks crap and pins. Ramone's had some cool land-specific clothing and such, which was nice. I want to pick up a shirt from there sometime.

All in all it was a fantastic time. We spent a good 4+ hours in Cars Land, so it will definitely take some time in the day to get everything done. Was it a "Potter swatter" like everyone talks about? I dunno - I love Potter, but I've only been once and I need a second look at it (next Sunday, actually :D ) to decide. They both do their job with great theming and rides, though.

And Buena Vista Street was just awesome. I just wish we could have another chance to stroll through there with zero crowds and strollers (seriously, I don't think I noticed a single stroller around there yesterday). It's a very lovely place with great shops and eateries.

You really can't put the grandeur of this entrance to Cars Land in a picture. I literally gasped. It was surreal. I don't even want to post this because it takes so much away from how it really is in real life.

WOW! The imagineers did a great job with the "atmospheric perspective" paint job like Eddie Sotto was talking about in his thread. The Cadillac Range looks like it's miles away!

Thanks so much for the report!

It's really crazy how big and far away the mountain range looks when you're standing beside it. You only really get a grasp of how close and small it is when the cars are winding around the track, ruining the forced perspective.

Sad that you kinda "see how the sausage is made" with the forced perspective, but it's probably worth it to be able to ride in and around so much themed landscape, I'm sure! The Space Mountain at DL is like that, too. The mountain looks impressive from the ground, but when you're on the second floor in the queue, you get closer to the mountain and a different perspective that makes it seem small. Fortunately, the ride there also makes up for the un-forced perspective.

Thanks so much, Laura! I think your night time photos look great.

My husband and I were just looking at them, we're really amazed with what they've done.

This is an amazing trip report - thank you SO much! Your photos are fantastic (even the rocks at night!) and this has made me more excited than anything else for our next DLR visit.

I'm curious if there is going to be Fastpass for the Radiator Springs Racers? The last time we visited Disneyland it felt like they use the FP system considerably less than WDW does (i.e. none for Matterhorn or Toy Story Mania) however that was in 2009 and perhaps things have changed?

There will indeed be Fastpasses for RSR. There are only a few rides that need Fastpasses at Disneyland. Matterhorn isn't one of them but I guess Toy Story could use the system.

There's also a single rider line, which saves at least 50-60% of the wait.

Good to know about the single rider line - doesn't work so well when our kids are with us, but someday they're going to grow up and we can go to Disney without them, right? ;)

Wow! Radiator Springs looks fantastic! And so does Buena Vista Street! We loved the park when we visited in 2009 and now there is so much more to visit and see. I think we spent 2 1/2 days in DCA on our last trip...sounds like we'll need atleast 3 full days next time. It's great to see land-specific merchandise for both BVS and Carsland. I love those night shots of Carsland too!

I hear you. We have recently started pushing the single rider concept to my kids, but they aren't up for it yet. I think we might be able to get them to try it on RSR though. Avoiding a 2 hour wait might tempt them.

Fantastic report and pictures from both of you! Thanks so much for sharing. I especially like this tidbit of information...me, my wife and daughter are heading to DL in late July. My wife is pregnant and will not be able to get on a good majority of the rides so having the single rider option for me is perfect!

I was already looking forward to the trip, but even more so now after seeing some of the pictures and videos that have been posted recently.

Thanks again!
