News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The post you directed me to respond to ignored both the concept art and the physical reality of Splash.

If folks want to argue that this change won’t negatively impact three major rides and the area as a whole by making reference to Disney’s past behavior and the copious available information, that’s great.
Fair enough, I think it is hard to tell from the concept art what the angle will be from Splash, especially since it is dark and bit blurred out. So I think the view is still yet-to-be-determined, even if I agree more with you about where the building is relative to Splash.
But we’ve done this often. Here’s where it likely ends up: “Do I wish they’d tried a little harder to hide Cars from Thunder and Splash? Sure. Do I wish the ride had a bit more to look at? Sure. But it’s done now and removing RoA was inevitable, so instead of being negative all the time let’s focus on Villains Land which is just three years away.”
I just don't look at every decision as all good or all bad, save the most egregious examples (which is probably where we differ- you see more of recent decisions as egregious, while I don't). I will probably come out of this wishing they had done it while keeping more of the river and having Cars a little further removed, but might still enjoy the attraction and the theming of natural parks and what that adds to the area. I don't believe it has to be all good or all bad.

PS: based on concept art and other info, I am very optimistic about the AK changes even though I’m one of the rare few who loved Dinoland. My negativity really is based on what Disney shows us and how they act.
I understand that, and have personally been especially frustrated with their decisions on finances and LL.

I agree that most decisions mix good and bad - I think MMRR is a great ride even though it unnecessarily replaced a great ride, for instance. In this case, however, two unique attractions and the aesthetics and storytelling of an entire land and three major rides are being destroyed to add an uninteresting looking ride based on a franchise that has a masterpiece of an attraction (and land) available to be cloned. I really don’t see an upside here - it’s a uniquely terrible decision across the board.

I for one am looking forward to what Disney will eventually do with the placeholder ROA/ expansion pad at Disneyland? The possibilities are exciting. Someone over on the DL thread once armchair imagineer’d a Coco ride going right where the beautiful big pond/ Bear Country remnants of Mine Train Thru Natures Wonderland is. That sounds pretty good.

I would have rather them copied Cars Land into DHS for sure.

After going to Tom Sawyers Island on Wed for one final time I can say it is in rough shape. Unless significant money was spent to refresh the entire area I now am less upset about cars. I also realized Disney could probably build an underground area for ride viechles as you really don't notice how high up the actual main park paths are until youre unloading from the bottom of the riverboat, esp once the water is drained. Makes me wonder if the villains coaster and cars ride with have indoor "basement" sections.

I do believe they intentionally neglect attractions they know they are going to get rid of.

I am sure Disney knew they were getting rid of TSI well in advance of their announcement.

I agree (with exception of Muppets3D) I feel they usually stop fixing or updating them. That said TSI was honestly kinda sad. Half the stuff was closed, I saw an elderly couple trying to walk one of the tilted paths and almost fall, and there were areas that were incredibly dirty.

It’s not so much that they intentionally neglect. It’s that all of these things need constant expensive maintenance and investment to keep them operating properly. When certain things break it’s hard to justify sometimes tens of thousand or more into repairing something you know won’t be needed much longer.

A photo I took the last time I went on the Riverboat.

A soon to be extinct view not only because of the river, but from this vantage point.

I never ride the riverboat, and to be honest I hardly ever see/notice the mansion from this angle. Not sure if it is covered by things normally (like trees, the riverboat itself) or if I just truly don’t look up and notice. So that may be on me.

But that is definitely a beautiful view.

And that is part of the problem...today's guests are in their phones now most of the time...never looking up to notice anything except their next ADV or Lightning Lane... they consume the attractions rather than savor and enjoy them...."just three more to go and we can parkhop to MGM"...Literally overheard this last time I was there.... MGM...lol they never look up to notice the park name has changed either.... lol

It’s only a “downgrade” for people who don’t think the ride or land has any chance of being good in its own way. I think it will be different, and time will tell if it is looked back on as a downgrade, lateral, or upgrade.

I felt the same when TBA was announced, which I now personally view as a downgrade.

I also felt the same when MMRR was announced, which I view as a lateral.

And I felt the same when Cosmic Rewind was announced, and even with its problems I view as an upgrade.

And this is how I feel with Cars and with Monsters. We will see what the verdict is. I think Tropical America’s is almost certainly an upgrade.

To me, if the concept art is even a fraction correct. It's a major upgrade. New attractions that add capacity to shorten some of the wait times on other rides and making Frontierland into a land with 3 major E ticket attractions, a solid easy family ride, and a recently up to date show :)

This is better than what we have imo and works better as a land. My only problem with this project is that for me, this will turn MK into a 2 day park easily for me and thats more expensive lol

I would agree but it will depend on execution.

No, as they clearly said in their comment. This is Tokyo which is somewhat the peak of the parks in peoples minds and this works fine. This solution is better than something that works fine :) Hope this helps
No, it doesn't help.
The implication is that what is going to be done at WDW's Magic Kingdom will not be as bad as the image provided of Tokyo's attraction.
Therefore - it's ok.
