Caveat: We're basing all this on concept art which should be taken too seriously.

Some looks to be on the lower elevation, some look to be on the "ground level". I'm really interested in how this all works out from an elevation point of view. This is probably the most interesting infrastructure build WDW has done in decades outside of building DHS/AK 20-30 years ago.
True. The concept art it seems like sometimes the cars go "down" below the ground level, hence the bridges and whatnot. But obviously stuff like that will probably change.

Here's a wider look - the file sizes are a little large, but this should allow you to zoom in:

So they are basically leveling everything with the island and making everything a flat land all around ROA and in TSI up to the banks? Interesting to see how that looks irl.

I am by no means an expert, but does this lend credence to the idea that Villains and Cars will both stay inside the Railroad and not affect it?

Yes, with the railroad elevated above the lands, it would seem. With lay down behind the railroad, that space becomes ready for future expansion.
So the railroad would be above both the lay down yards and the ROA expansion? Kind alike how it was with galaxies edge where you walk under it, but just not visible? Glad they are at least ensuring the railroads future I think.

The wdw railroad refuses to have any interesting updates to it though. Wish there was more to see on it.

This won’t improve bottlenecks because the paths won’t be widened. It will increase the bottlenecks by increasing traffic. And instead of an expansive, scenic body of water, the bottleneck will be against a thin row of trees.

The views from Splash and Thunder will be ruined. Splash will go from its striking view of the castle and river to a view of an unthemed flat roof.

Haunted Mansion will now be looking at cars with googly-eyes in a straight-to-DVD landscape.

If folks want to cheer the change, fine. But I’m tired of the endless refusal to accept the information we have because it’s unpleasant.
The orientation of the HM will make no sense after they get rid of the RoA. Yet another consequence of this project.

With Villains so close to it, there will be something to see.

I’m curious to see if the WDWRR needs to close much with lay down behind it.

And by "future expansion" that would likely be something after Villains or an expansion to Villains later on?
It’ll be something. In the grand scheme of things, I do feel like this choice of closing the river was the best option for the long term future of the park, unfortunate as it is. It also opens up lands for new expansion, and will help spread out crowds which the MK needs. As sad as the death of the ROA is, I don’t think it is in vain.

That's been part of my feeling on this. Once they build Villains it would be far more difficult to build in the area around TSI, if they were going to use that space, it was kind of now or never.

Yeah. I get that sense too. And i definitely am confident they didn’t take this choice lightly. They know people like the river. And if they are gonna use a space like that and make such a big change to MK, you might as well swing for the fences, hence cars and villains as choices.

MK is gonna be a better park after all of this. And I can’t wait to see it.

As always, doom-speculating with nothing concrete to back it up. 😂

After the railroad cross the bridges it begins a descent. At the bridge the elevation is +108’. At the top of the drawing it has dropped down to +100’. This calls for the Rivers of America to be filled in to +98.75. That’s nowhere near enough room to have people walking underneath without later excavations. This doesn’t show things being down below.
