MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Did we find out the closure date yet? Also am curious how long will it take for them to actually start construction after closure as I don't remember the last time Disney leveled an old attraction to make way for a new one (not counting rethemes).

Also respectfully I have accepted Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America are going away and Cars and Villains are on their way. I have mixed feelings, but overall I am hopeful that the new expansions are themed well, enjoyable, and do new things we've yet to experience. I say this because I get being mad and complaining, I was there too, but just because your upset doesn't mean you should close yourself off to that there is stuff to be excited about with this. For all we know New Frontierland and Villainsland could rival the emersion of Fantasy Springs. That said if Disney drops the ball they'll never hear the end of it from me as we should. All im saying is hoping for less complaining about what's gonna happen and more what you hope to happen with this expansion, just my two cents tho.
Disney will do what Disney will do and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them.

I fear this cars area will take many, many years to complete and open and will be greatly cost cut compare to the blurry ambiguous concept drawings showed to us at D23 in 2024.

I also fear that after this cars attraction opens it will be down more than it’s up as we have seen with Tiana, they can’t do a reskin and have it work, also with the EPCOT World Celebration area, with the continuing lighting issues.

We know the new Cars attraction is many, many years off. I hope Disney is CURRENTLY testing the technology they intend to use in the Cars attraction back stage at WDW outside and NOT in a lab environment in California.

I defo get that, I've liked the recent Disney execution other than a few stragglers so I do still have the faith and the optimism left. Only thing I haven't really liked in the last few years was Communicore Hall :/ Still salvageable tho
I hate most of it. IMO most of it doesn't fit the parks they are in. Guardians doesn't belong in Epcot nor does Frozen. Cars has nothing to do with the Wild West.

I'm sorry but I just don't think you mean c Hall is salvageable. It literally has less pleasing aesthetics than your local strip mall and I wish that was sarcasm.

I understand they had to pull back from the original plans due to covid, revenues dropped to almost nothing and so the budget budget was reduced to almost nothing.

It literally would have been much better to wait and do nothing until your budgetary constraints would have allowed for something, anything, a little bit more creative and intriguing than what they ended up with. It's really really bad

I really think it is salvageable if they go in and actually fully decorate it with the concept art in mind. It’s not the festival center but it can still be worthy of that title

I'm going to have to disagree. Putting in some showpieces into an otherwise completely bland hallway that has all the aesthetics of my high school cafeteria, is not going to fix it. That would be like saying putting those same full y decorated show pieces in my high school cafeteria would make my high school cafeteria worthy of being in a Disney theme park. It would not be.

And it's not just the hall it's the entire layout of that building that's an absolute joke. The performance venue is lackluster. The hall is lackluster. The whole building is just lackluster.

Maybe they could go back to Epcot's edutainment roots and develop the space into a demonstration of modern building deconstruction and demolition until the shell is ground to a fine powder and allowed to blow away in the next hurricane?
Just a thought.....

I’ve tried to ignore how much it bothers me they’re taking out ROA, I love Disney… but this is the dumbest idea I think I’ve ever seen them act on. I feel it will ruin the haunted mansion’s aesthetic and liberty square. If they were merely reshaping the river around the cars ride maybe… but this is just depressing to me.

I think a lot of us feel that way... this is a gigantic substantial change that will forever alter the fabric of the park... Losing the Riverboat is so sad... That steam whistle that could be heard from well outside the park... The open space of the riverfront after the tighter condensed spaces of Fantasyland and Adventureland... that was where the park Opened Up...I might have even felt better about it if they were doing something with Frontierland that felt appropriate to the late 19th century wild west aesthetic... A Grizzly Gulch expansion that would connect it back to Villain's Lair or whatever they will call it...but googly eyed cars in a California National Parks area just seems so far off from the style and charm that was the Magic Kingdom... I felt this way about losing 20k too...but at least then the addition actually fit the theme of the area of the park...

At the risk of scouring 397 pages, can anyone give me a summary of what we are getting and when?

Os it this classic Josh ?
Per Perplexity....

Two exciting Cars-themed attractions are set to debut in Magic Kingdom's Frontierland, as announced during the recent D23 Expo. Here’s what we know about these upcoming rides:

Overview of the Attractions

  • New Area: The attractions will be part of a reimagined section of Frontierland, replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America 2 6
  • Construction Timeline: Work on this new area is scheduled to begin in early 2025, with permits already filed as of August 2024 2 5

Details of the Attractions

  1. Thrilling Rally Race:
    • This ride will take guests on a rally race through rugged mountain terrain, where they will navigate challenges such as geysers and mudholes. It promises an immersive experience with dynamic elements like fog and snow 1 3 6
  2. Family-Friendly Ride:
    • The second attraction is designed for smaller guests and aims to be enjoyable for the whole family. While specific details about this ride are less defined, it is expected to complement the more intense rally experience 1 4 5

Ride Technology

  • The main attraction will utilize a trackless all-terrain ride system, marking a shift from traditional slot-car systems seen in other Disney rides. This innovative approach allows for more flexibility in navigating diverse landscapes, enhancing the thrill of racing through the mountains 3 4

Concept Art and Future Developments

  • Disney has released concept art showcasing the new area, which indicates a vibrant environment inspired by the Cars franchise. This includes themed elements and possibly new dining and shopping options within the expanded land 2 6
As construction progresses, more details are likely to emerge, making this a highly anticipated addition to Magic Kingdom.
