I really don't see them using that area for the Cars/Villains project, that project already has much larger laydown yards designated for it.

While I don't disagree I am curious do we think there's any possibility adding a pathway here between Tianas (past Thunder and under the RR) to Villains), as we know Disney is trying to not have dead ends in the park and personally I think they should to help with congestion

Wasn't Beauty and the Beast in Tokyo one of the first to correct this with projections on the floor?

Haven't had the pleasure of riding it first-hand, but I'm curious if floor projections were convincing enough to mitigate this. I feel like trackless rides should try to design around the warehouse feeling and minimize the amount of wide open spaces like Mystic Manor does

I'd say Rise does a great job of this (even if it's not my favorite ride). The tech was perfect for that ride experience and theme.

I haven't experienced it in person, but it appears to be a reasonable solution. What's interesting is that if one of the vehicles in the chain is removed, the projections have a circular gap where that vehicle should be.

That makes sense. Otherwise, it would be projecting on the ride vehicles, which would be distracting to guests and give away the gag.

What I don't get - and I've said this before - is if this ride doesn't feel quick (give the illusion of speed) then how can it feel like a Rally Race?
And they are selling this as a Rallye Race.
Now... They could have marketed this as a scenic off road adventure.
Go all out on the themeing - geysers, water features, tunnels, etc., and have us off road through the American West.
But that's not what they are telling us this is.
So it really confuses me when I see the ride systems they may utilize.
I really wish they planned to keep the river, put Villain's Land behind Big Thunder and give us an off the shelf Cars Land at Hollywood Studios.

I wish they had just gone with Coco’s Village, which I’ve inferred was the likely choice until potentially the day of the D23 announcement. I don’t mean to harp on this endlessly because I really enjoy the parks and think Disney is doing a lot of great things there, I’m just sooo bummed by this decision. I think it was primarily a cost cutting measure and unfortunately I think that will come across in the final product.

Sorry if this has been discussed but been out of the loop a bit. Any truth to the idea that Disney is

Coco was BY FAR the cheaper expansion.
It’s soarin 3.0. No Thanks!! If that’s what we got people would be complaining about that too.
Cars is absolutely not the cost cutting option and the more expensive of the 2. Please no more soarin variations.

I would be fine with them putting Cars road rallye where the current Speedway sits and then taking the Tomorrowland Concourse area (Cosmic Ray's) and using that as the transition area and part of the Carsland world...and leave the ROA... Cut it back enought to put a bypass in to get past the Haunted Mansion to the Villain's land beyond...

They apparently made a meeting decision between Coco and Cars and went with Cars because for the return it would bring in with merchandise and return that the land in DCA has provided.

The land at DCA is epic and monumental. It is completely recognizable from the film, gorgeously detailed and filled with stuff 3 attractions, multiple shops and QS locations. They are not doing anything of that scale for this...they keep underplaying the size of it...saying the Villains section will be the big area and this will be smaller... They need to either put it where the Speedway is, or just build a real deal Carsland at DHS with all the bells and whistles...People want to recognize locations from the films they love... not a specific IP in another location from another film that was not successful...or a completely made up location like SWGE or Tiana's Foods Factory and Mountain Farm Co-op... If IP is the end game, make it fully immersive in the IP world we know... Not Mulan's convoluted Summer Vacation in Singapore...

But, this isn't a Cars Land. It's a Cars themed attraction placed into Frontierland, so it's themed to the American wilderness. I think that if this attraction wasn't tied to Cars but was still a rally race through the wilderness, it would be better received. Yet the only difference seems to be some eyes on the car and a Lightning McQueen animatronic at the end

If it wasn't for the IP mandate it could be Grizzly River Run
Think about that

True (but justice for Humphrey the Bear as an IP as Grizzly is loosely themed to that). At least with the Rally Race, it's going to have a different ride system and won't be another water ride with a drop so close to Tiana's. Still hoping there will be plenty of water through the Rally Race

It's not themed to the American wilderness, it's themed to the Carsland "wilderness," full of puns from a straight-to-DVD quality spinoff from the least witty franchise Pixar ever produced.

And no, a "rally race" would be an incredibly boring ride concept with or without eyes on the cars - and would be just as out of place stuck by Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, and the rest of Frontierland.

This! It is not cars in Frontierland... it is the end of any Frontierland because this is just a Cars themed area...but not one from the Cars movie we loved....completely out of place...and causing us the lose the whole back half of the park, the river and two other attractions to put in a fake mountain range designed to look like car parts... Frontierland indeed.
