I didn't notice ANY rips or problems w/the attraction at all- it didn't look worn out or old or anything! All the animatronics were working- my favorite is the dog. :) It seemed the same as when I saw it as a kid- except the song was different, of course. Everyone in the theatre seemed to enjoy it, including my bf who had never seen it before.

I agree with you, I was there in the middle of May and saw it twice. I loved it, great attraction! I told several cast members how much I loved it and that they should keep it open year round.

Well, I rode it the beginning of May, and Travis rode it Saturday, so it looks like you were just fortunate enough to have missed the damage. The main one that bugged me was on one of the screens to another room... When it was "lit" to display the scene behind the poor patch job was especially noticeable. COP is one of my favorite rides, and it saddens me that it is such a state (I also laughed with the laserdisc reference)... I'd love to see them do a quality refurb/upgrade of COP. Perhaps even an all-new theater... I really like the idea of having a "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" and "Now is the Time" version...

I love the old song "now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of our lives" what a greats Song! are you allowed to video tape in the carousel of progress.... it's so funny that my parents use the carousel of progress to sleep a little bit and takea little break from the heat... i sit and enjoy the ride!

I did a video of it last year, this year they said no. So it depends on who is running the show :)

lol it struck me as funny the last time i rode- how the dog is present through every scene.. by the end of the attraction the dog would be some 80+ years [human years..]

LOL this version of Rover has still been going since 1975. Remember when it was at one point called 'Queenie' during "Now Is The Time"?!:lookaroun

It was never intended that the carousel of family age so drastically with the century. Now that may have been the case in 1964, but when mother and father sat in their living room together with Rover, mother made no specific reference of age to the children or the grandparents. Mother and father also did not age during christmas 1960, unless hair dye was in mega use, and just for men's gel came out...:hammer:

The family is supposed to represent a "typical" family of each highlited decade of the 20th century. The only age a few years as the acts of the play go up. Now it has been debated there is of course a major change between Patricia and James in the house of either 1890/1900/ or 1904 (st louis world's fair was in 1904)

Patricia and James in the house of 2000 ( as viewed from a 1994 standpoint) are already teenagers or young adults, with a grey haired father.

I am with everybody else on this subject, CoP should remain open all year long to let everybody enjoy, if not for enjoyment then at least keep it open so people can enjoy a nice air conditioned theatre!!! I also agree that CoP needs a fix-up, but not a major overhaul, just some added TLC.

If a major overhaul is what people want then I propose something pretty drastic. Move the current CoP to either EPCOT or back to DL for their 50th and make the current theatre a ride dedicated to Walt and the company he built, hosted by Walt himself. Each scene would tell the story of Walt (and/or the story of the Disney Co. minus of course any references to Eisner:hammer:  ), from the early days of the studios to future of the parks. The first scene could him and Roy making the Alice shorts, scene 2: the appearence of Mickey (a.k.a. Mortimer), scene 3: Snow White production, scene 4: DL Construction, scene 5: (I forgot how many scenes there are at CoP:confused: ) Disney today and tomorrow. This would be cool because when they refurbish the ride they can show all the new attractions, movies, shows, etc... that are coming to Disney, and making Walt into an AA figure would be pretty cool i think!!!

Anyways, those are my thoughts, feel free to comment. I just which we did something to honor Walt other then the One Mans Dream at the studios, Walt deserves a better tribute, hey that could even become the que area!!! Anyways, have a great time on your trip and ride CoP once for me!!!

While that was an interesting idea for a historic type ride. I'd rather not see them replace CoP with it. Too much history, one of the few actual "Walt Built" rides left in either park.

Now if you wanted to make an outer (outer) ring around the original CoP and have a Making of CoP that worked exactly like CoP but took you from area to area showing the struggles/etc that Walt and the Imagineers went through trying to develop the ride (kind of a major pre-show). And then it let you out inside the outer circle into a courtyard to board the original CoP that would be ok with me. (did anyone understand all that?)

Has anyone seen the "Tomorrowland" Disney Treasures dvd set thats in a tin? There is a little bit about COP on the second disc- showing it being built and at the world's fair. It talks about the two songs and plays a little bit of both. -Stephanie

OK, all. What happened to the other daughter?:( The one running the wash day marval in the first scene.

Make no changes to scenes 1-4 in my beloved CoP.:D If you want it updated they have the entry and exit theaters to play with.:D

I had never noticed the cat until last week when my daughter pointed it out to me lying atop the Christmas presents, sleeping peacefully. You know, I've never had a turkey in the oven and a quiet cat at the same time. :D

You can certainly hear the cat when the fuses blow!

Coming soon to WDWMagic and Disney Central IRC - one of my next videos will be the complete `The Best Time of your life` version of the CoP, shot in 1990, with full source audio. Probably be finished in a month or so.
