Carousel of Progress REHAB

I see where you are coming from. Thing is, Superstar Limo was a hated and vilified attraction and Mr. Toad isn't even half the "classic" that CoP is. If Disney management is even dumber than most people assume they are, they won't close the ride.

Oh, I never argued it as such. Simply looking at other instances recently where there have been simmilar (though not the same) situations. As someone pointed out above, 20K Leagues was "under rehab" for several years before they admitted it would never open again. (A sore spot for me personally, as my family always vacationed at WDW during September/October, and each and every trip I made 20K was undergoing it's annual (?) drainage rehab. Made for some neat pics from the Skyway, but still disapoints me. Then one day it went down for another rehab, and never returned.)

After they destroyed WoM and Horizons to replace them with two rides that, neat as they may be, are pale replacements, I wouldn't put ANYTHING past 'em.

i truly hope "rehab" means what we all hope it means. would you think that promotion of the attraction would help add to attendance? (once the rehab is complete) for example, the younger generations who didn't grow up with it, and rekindle the memories of those who did? or is this just plain wishful thinking?

20,000 was a very cheap and cheasy attraction so don't get worked up. Plus, there were so many reasons for this ride to be closed like maintenence and how the CMs hated the ride with a passion.

CoP though is in a whole different story. CoP historical value is also too great. Especially since this is supposed to be the only permanent attraction in all of Disney.

Hmm, wasn't getting worked up, just expressing my disapointment that I never got to ride.

Where did you get that it is supposed to be "the only permanent attraction in all of Disney"? It's already been moved three times, from the World's Fair, to Disneyland, and then to WDW.

Historical value means little to the current Disney administration, as is painfully obvious to every Disney fan out there.

Permanent comes from Walt's own words. It was the only attraction he told his Imagineers to keep operating in his parks as long as they were open. . .and it has always been open at his parks (until 2001, and his 100th birthday celebration. . . when it was put on seasonal).

I wouldn't want to see it overseas, though. . . Walt clearly centered this show on the American family. :D

As for the little green men saucer rumors, those rumors apply more to timekeeper then they do COP. Timekeeper, while I dont think its as bad as people say, I wouldnt miss it too much if it left.

I actually love the Timekeeper (even though I'm not necessarily a fan of circle vision type attractions). I would be really sad to see it go, especially for something like little green men saucers. I hate the idea that when I saw it 2 weeks ago on my vacation, it may have been the last time that I get to see it.

As for COP, I also love that attraction and I really hope that the rehab really is a rehab. That's one of the few Walt originals left, and I think it would be really sad if management got rid of it. Walt always wanted it to be in his parks and I think we should honor Walt's memory by keeping COP where it's supposed to be. A rehab/update would be nice, just as long as that's all that it is.

Gotchya. I thought he was saying there was some sort of decree that once it was placed it was "permanent", which didn't make sense since as I pointed out it has already been moved several times.

Again, sort of gotten derailed here, but I totally hope that this is just a rehab, and CoP will be running in Tomorrowland for decades to come.

I'm just not gonna hold my breath that the Disney company feels the same way until the day it reopens.

How about putting in the original Worlds Fair finale - exit onto the stage and upto a second level (or across into a new building) - and put the EPCOT model here so we get more than a TTA 10 second look at it?
