Carousel of Progress refurb?

I've said this before and I'll say it again, if Disney wants to drive traffic to these "walk up" shows, they need highly visible clocks outside of the attraction that say how many minutes there are to the next show. I know CoP is basically every 5 minutes, but that matters to some people.

Many shows in MK are ones that people go in "if they're loading in a few minutes".

This tweet seemingly confirms that the attraction is having serious maintenance issues. Do we think it’s really at risk of closing? I think that would be the death knell for the MK for me. I can't imagine it without the CoP.

Ah yes, someone who works at MK. Just the kind of specific sourcing we love

So that’s why they brought Hamsterviel out last month!

In all seriousness, CoP isn’t going anywhere. It’ll probably get a lengthy refurb and maybe some updates if this rumor is even true, but it’s not leaving the park.
time to fire up the duplicator from hista, does that thing even still work?

One has historical significance to Walt Disney himself. The other is a copy of a Disneyland attraction that’s been underutilized and ignored by guests for decades.
We're talking about CoP, the attraction that never has a wait time longer than the next show...underutilized and ignored by guests for decades. 😂

CoP has been rumored to close since the early 2000s when it went into seasonal operation to save costs

That it's still running suggests Disney has decided the cost of replacing it is not worth it for an attraction that has such a high throughput in a relatively small amount of space. Tearing the whole thing down would impact the PeopleMover too.

You’re right, everything that doesn’t command long waits and does not require LLs should be closed and the space should remain closed if it’s determined it’s too costly to replace. This serves to make anything that remains open in higher demand and potentially sell more LLs. 😉

I’m sure this will be a very unpopular sentiment but oh well. Ship it back to Disneyland. That’s the original park that does Walt’s legacy up big time. It belongs there or in some setting like the Smithsonian, or other location away from MK. I can appreciate its historic value, but I can also appreciate it not belonging where it is.
