Well, after a little searching it seems that the pool right there at Old Port Royale will also be down for refurb from Jan till mid Sept. '08. So that whole area may be closed.

I can't imagine that they would cut you off like that.

However, what are the yellow lines in Jose's aerial view of the area?

i would assume that the yellow lines are those floating things that they use to keep debris at the top of the water from spreading (in case of some type of fuel spill).

Um... They're 'virtual' lines on the photo... Not actual lines in the water. :lookaroun

I know, I'm saying that this might be a redraw online that he did of what he saw, you can see these yellow floating things in the other photos that he took.
Gotcha, I just saw the computer generated ones and thought it odd, but looking further... :lookaroun nevermind.

So far as I know, it`s the main pool next to Old Port Royale that will be overhauled in January as mentioned above. It`ll be 20 next year and has been overtaken at other resorts as the `feature` pool. During the downtime, extra facillities will be made available at the other pools in each village. Again, so far as I know it won`t affect Old Port Royale (Centertown) itself.

Probably the only people truly affected by the construction are the people in Trinidad North and South who choose to walk to OPR. The fecned off area includes their most direct route, so they'll have to walk around the outside of the construction fence.

I wonder if they're expanding the pool. Compared to the other Moderates, it's rather small to be the "feature" pool.

I think the yellow line in the aeiral view might be construction of new bridges (plus several more should be added to the north of the island) will be added so that each village can walk across the island to get to Port Royal. A Yellow floations to catch debrise and spill seem to me to far away from the shore line and the construction site to be of any use to stop items and spills.

Looking at the picture again I believe the area is too big for just a pool, I believe Carribbean Beach is the only resort where the main check in counter is in a separte building that not connected to the food court and a centralize bus stops and is across the lake from it. Could they be moving the Check in/ out next to OPR so that you do not have to haul your luggage all the way to the carriage house by getting on the inner bus route?

Nope and nope - no new bridges. The yellow lines represent the floatation booms and the construction area in question is purely for the new, remodelled pool. Remember the walled area needs to also house site offices, storage and construction vehicles. Customs House (check in) isn`t going anywhere. I enquired about the scope and details of the workd during my stay at the CBR last month. The entire resorts water pipe infrastructure has recently been rebuilt too - seems like all things wet (!) at the CBR are getting some TLC.
