I was wondering how far is the Jamaca area from Port Royale(the food/lobby area)? I like the colors on that one and I was thinking it might be a good area since Martinique and Trinadad probably fill up fast.

lake

As long as you are around the "MAIN" lake (there is a road that goes over a bridge at CBR, the bridge goes over the lake (not the bridge that you walk across). Stay on the Port Royal side of the road bridge.

As long as you are around the "main" lake you'll be surprised how close you are, even if you are across the other side. Just stay on the lake and it's a quick walk.

Jamaica is an excellent island to stay at because of its nice proximity to Old Port Royale, no more than 10 mins, I'd say 5.

It's close enough, but yet allows you to explore the paths of the island, traverse two footbridges, and walk the meandering paths.

I always felt that Martinique and Trinidad North weren't the "preferred" locationms b/c its such a short walk that you miss out on a lot. Hey, at least my preferred area isn't Disney's--you save money being on the other side of the lake!!

Staying across the Lake from Port Royale is nice also because it gives you a reason to walk across the bridge in the beautiful mornings and evenings to get to OPR.

I've always tried to request to stay in Jamaica (and had no problem getting a room there) each time I stayed at Caribbean Beach, which was 6 times. I like the location because the walk is short to Port Royale and it is a nice scenic walk across the island. I'd recommend that location over any other at the resort.

I agree, it is nice to stay on the other side of the island. I think a lot of people (not on this board) make it sound like if you don't stay at a village right next to OPR, that you will have a bad time.
The walk is not that bad. I stayed in Aruba on my first trip, and my grandparents, who were in their 70's, had no trouble with the walk. I also have had very good luck with requesting particular buildings at CBR. Have fun! -Stephanie

I've looked at the maps but sometimes they aren't scaled to well so I was just checking. It sounds good to me getting to walk across the lake. I also am wondering now how do you go about requesting an area/building?

You just do it!

And they make a note. And it never hurts to do it in advance either.

But the important time is within a week of your departure, call and request what you would like. They will make a note of it. And, of course, remind them at Check In. We request down to the exact room and have never seen a problem.

Ohhh, how I would LOVE to be checking in at Custom House!!

And, yes, as everyone supports, Jamiaca and Aruba are the way to go at Caribbean Beach to soak in all that it has to offer.

We stayed in Aruba building 53, and the walk really wasn't bad at all. Let me tell you, there is nothing like looking across the lake with the morning sun reflecting off of it. Simply breathtaking, and something that you MUST see! The Aruba island, in my opinion, was also very quiet (something we honeymooners were hoping for). All in all, you won't be disappointed with ANY building at CBR. I only wish I was there checking in tomorrow. Alas, we only have four months left...not too terribly long of a wait. Nonetheless, hope you enjoy your trip, and rent a water mouse for me!!!!

Yep, just do it. We always ask when we make our reservation. They make a note on your reservation. If you change your mind about where you want to stay, or you haven't requested anything just call reservations and they'll add a note to your reservation.

Tour guide Mike recommends faxing your request 4 days before you go to give you a better chance. 4 days is out is when they make the actual room assignments. If you do it sooner then that they just file it away until 4 days out. Last time we stayed at the Caribbean we had a large group with 5 rooms. We faxed our request 4 days out and got the exact buildings we asked for.

They are very good at filling your request.

I love staying on the other side of the lake. We stay in Aruba, in one of the buildings near the bridges to the island. It's peaceful to get up a go for a walk to OPR for my morning coffee while the family gets ready for the day.

It really isn't too far to walk. Ans the scenery is great.
