Caribbean Beach or French Quarter?

Hi! My girlfriend and I are going in March and wanted to stay at a moderate resort. Since I have already been to Riverside and she's been to Coronado, we wanted to try one of these. Can anyone help us decide?

Thanks!

Caribbean has the better food court out of the 2. In my opinion, of course. I think French Quarters has a really cool atmosphere. If you're really into Mardi Gras this is the place for you cause it captures the style. Caribbean also has a great atmosphere. If I remember correctly there is tropical music always playing. Really makes one relax.

Caribbean Beach! They have the best food court, with all sorts of food: pizza, pasta, breadsticks, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, pastries, etc. They play island music as well as JIMMY BUFFETT!! Everything is really bright and colourful. The rooms are very nice and are much brighter than they were when the resort first opened. There are several bus stops around the resort. We stayed in Martinique 26 last time and it was really close to Old Port Royale and the bus stop. Trinidad is also close to Old Port Royale.

We stayed at Port Orleans once and while it does have a nice atmosphere, we like the Caribbean Beach better.

We really enjoyed the Caribbean Beach. A great place to go for walks and sit out on hammocks and relax. A cute little outdoor bar out next to the main pool is a great place to throw back some tropical drinks. We loved the atmosphere. After we stayed there the first time, we had no desire to stay any where else, except the Poly, which is a lot more $$. Another tropical setting though. I never stayed at any other moderate simply because we loved the CBeach. Thats my opinion and experience, I hope it helps...

I haven't stayed at POFQ, but have stayed at CBR. I also stayed at POR and I thought CBR was much nicer. The only complaint I had about CBR was the food court, unlike a lot of other posts. I'm not into fast food. though and it got old very fast. I have heard that POFQ is much smaller, but you also have to sometimes share the bus with POR. I'm not sure where it stops first.

I'm going against the popular opinion.....I did not like Caribbean Beach nearly as much as PO. I'd chose POFQ. I didn't like the food court at CB, either.

I think if you're looking for a romantic effect, go with French Quarter, but if you don't really care, go with Caribbean Beach.

French Quarter. And here's why: The pool is cooler. There's a huge dragon emerging from it! There's a very enjoyable boat ride to Downtown Disney. Ironically, CBR is sorta landlocked. Depending on where you stay, the bus situtation is slightly less hectic. FQ is quieter than CBR. I rarely depend on food courts for norishment outside of breakfast (because there are sooo many wonderful restaurants elsewhere) so I can't really comment on that. Whatever you decide, have fun.

I've got to go with the Caribbean Beach....as a matter of fact in 41 days I'll be at the resort. We love the atmosphere, especially in December coming from the cold North. As far as the food court goes, everyone, including my vegetarian daughter finds something.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Caribbean Beach! :sohappy:

Hi there, I also have stayed at both and consistently choose other Moderates over the CBR simply because there is no sit down restaurant for breakfast, like at Riverside!!! (Yummy Boatwright's!!!!!!)Any word on Shutters getting a breakfast thing going?? Belle

Just my opinion:

You can really flip a coin, you can't go wrong with either. CBR, to me, seems to be a bit more upbeat, and PO:FQ is more laid back.

Between the two, I would choose CBR - a little more fun, and just a bit further away from everything.

You know, I used to stay at Port Orleans (back when it was called just Port Orleans and Riverside was Dixie Landings and it all actually made sense...) all the time as a kid, and I can tell you that the rooms are quite nice and cozy. But having recently returned in August and having stayed at Dixie, I took a nice long walk over to Port Orleans and it wasn't all I remembered it being cracked up to be. It seemed awfully "smooshed together", had no real amenities besides a moderate size food court, the sit down restraunt was closed and shuttered, and I found the whole expirence to be mildly depressing.

It's basically Dixie, but not quite as nice.

I've never stayed at Caribbean Beach, but just to shake things up a bit, I'd give it a go. My family is showing up for Thanksgiving and they'll all be bunking down at CB.

We have stayed at both multiple times. We like both of them and would stay at either one depending on what "type" of trip we were planning. For example:

* POFQ is smaller and better now that we are travelling with a very young child.

*POFQ food court is smaller and has fewer choices, but the food is always fresh and hot. My Mickey waffles are worth a 3 minute wait for them to be cooked just for me!! At CB, the food court has many more choices (the cookies in the bakery are AWESOME), we often got breakfast foods that had been prepared ahead of time and were cold or a little tough.

* The pools at both are good. My 11 year old prefers POFQ because of the serpent water slide, it also tends to be less crowded. The main pool at CB can be very crowded, but there are quite pools throughout the resort.

* The rooms at both are fine, POFQ was just refurbished and we just returned from staying there. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were very clean looking and everything was nice and new. Some of the rooms at CB were starting to show wear and tear when we were there last year.

* CB has a larger store and a better game arcade. You can also rent boats and surreys at the hotel. The landscaping is lush and tropical and the flowers are always beautiful!

* The lanscaping at POFQ is very New Orleans but is not as lush as CB.

You can't go wrong with either one. You will just have to pick one for this year and then stay at the other next year!

Ive stayed in POFQ one time before. I dont know if anybody remebers but it actually closed down after the terrorist attacks on sept 11. When we went it was the first day it had been opened since the attacks. So it was bery nice. I enjoyed it alot

In december im going down for mvmcp and my parents told us to pick a moderate resort and after collecting data i decided CBR. I cant wait. I have heard very few negative things and i cant wait to go.

I love CBR ! I've been there twice and I'm going back next week ! It is very colorful, the area music is so upbeat, you really feel as though you are in the Caribbeans !
