Car takes on median outside Shades of Green -- and loses

I'm at WDW presently. On the evening of Dec. 1, 2014, after returning from a day at Universal's parks with my good friend, there was a one car accident in front of the Shades of Green entrance.

About an hour after my friend left Shades, I decided to walk across the street to the Polynesian for some drinks and to tour the progress of the resort. All the while I am walking the trail there were several flashing yellow lights and several red lights. When I got closer there were 2 Disney police cars, and one Reedy Creek fire truck and an ambulance from the firehouse down the street (near the Grand Floridian) and several officers directing traffic. Traffic flow was down to one lane.

Upon further inspection, from what I gathered, a Mazda driving from the direction of the Grand Floridian to Shades and Polynesian misjudged the median crosswalk that connects to a secluded trail to the Polynesian and did not merge to the right, Just continued front and plowed through. It hit several barriers and traffic signs, hit the crosswalk and scraped the cement something fierce. One of the car's side mirrors was knocked off and debris littered the street and into the grass in both directions.

See those white scrapes on the cement in the crosswalk? That's where the car did some major damage to its undercarriage.

Didn't see the car too well in the dark but it did come to a rest on the side of the road. Its left driver's side tire was pretty mangled and it appeared the car's hood was in an odd shape. Asked the police officer and he said it was only one vehicle.

The damaged car is in front of the fire truck above ^^^.

Anybody else have more info?

I drove past it last night in the same direction (GF towards Shades of Green) and the front of the car was mangled. The entire left suspension was basically torn off.

Family and I have walked that trail many, many time and it amazes me the number of vehicles that do not pay attention to that crosswalk with pedestrians both in the crosswalk and waiting to cross. ALL Disney vehicles stop for pedestrians well before the markings.

Yes
Its not surprising given what I have observed as the excessive speed on this portion of the road. An inattentive (or impaired... but we know no one ever imbibes at Disney) driver exceeding the posted speed limit wouldn't have time to react. Magic bands didn't help in this instance, but I'm glad that emergency services were in close proximity

This morning, on December 2, 2014 at 7:48am EST, I was walking to the lobby in the All Star Movies resort to take my morning constitutional. I like to use their restrooms so my wife will not be forced to live with the after effects the buffet at Boma has on my digestive system.
As I was walking past the World Premier Food Court, I noticed that there were yellow "Slippery When Wet" signs around a small area near the soda dispenser. I decided my bowels could wait, so I headed in to take a quick look.

On the outside (above) everything looks fairly normal. It wasn't until I got in when I could see the damage. It looks like someone had dropped their resort mug!

See the color of the soda? Does that look more like Wild Cherry Pepsi or Doctor Pepper? I had to investigate further. After yelling for everyone to be careful, I entered the blockaded area. Dropping down on one knee, I dipped my finger into the liquid and gave it a taste. I was shocked when I found out the truth. IT WAS BOTH! Someone had mixed Wild Cherry Pepsi and Doctor Pepper together!

Near the spill was a resort mug with an orange top. I did not have pockets in my Snuggie, so I placed the mug in the band of my Fruit of the Loom briefs to take it back to my room. I would like to contact the owner of this mug so I can return the mug, and also alert the local police department for attempted homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.

Does anyone know who this belongs to?

New special addition to the "Disney Driving Experience" attraction in development. Kind of a cross between "Cars" and "Star Wars". Hope no one was injured.

The traffic signs were replaced overnight. Yeah, Disney or no Disney you just don't want to slam into those. The next day the car's side mirror and other molding were just left in a pile on the grass. Just wonder what the deductible would be?

I think it's pretty obvious that the only question we should be asking ourselves here is where exactly this careless guest found a fountain with Wild Cherry Pepsi on Disney property. Indeed, the plot thickens.
