I'm at WDW presently. On the evening of Dec. 1, 2014, after returning from a day at Universal's parks with my good friend, there was a one car accident in front of the Shades of Green entrance.
About an hour after my friend left Shades, I decided to walk across the street to the Polynesian for some drinks and to tour the progress of the resort. All the while I am walking the trail there were several flashing yellow lights and several red lights. When I got closer there were 2 Disney police cars, and one Reedy Creek fire truck and an ambulance from the firehouse down the street (near the Grand Floridian) and several officers directing traffic. Traffic flow was down to one lane.
Upon further inspection, from what I gathered, a Mazda driving from the direction of the Grand Floridian to Shades and Polynesian misjudged the median crosswalk that connects to a secluded trail to the Polynesian and did not merge to the right, Just continued front and plowed through. It hit several barriers and traffic signs, hit the crosswalk and scraped the cement something fierce. One of the car's side mirrors was knocked off and debris littered the street and into the grass in both directions.
See those white scrapes on the cement in the crosswalk? That's where the car did some major damage to its undercarriage.
Didn't see the car too well in the dark but it did come to a rest on the side of the road. Its left driver's side tire was pretty mangled and it appeared the car's hood was in an odd shape. Asked the police officer and he said it was only one vehicle.
The damaged car is in front of the fire truck above ^^^.
Anybody else have more info?
