Captain Marvel

If Disney is phasing out those actors it makes no sense for them to get the big push at the end of that film. The whole point is to make consumers want to pay to see the next movie- satisfying storytelling isn't necessarily at cross-purposes to that, but it's not the main goal.
I don’t think Disney wants a repeat of past mistakes regarding legacy characters. Also, giving them a fitting end helps people move on and accept new characters.

That seems to be the biggest fear in and around my circle. Captain Marvel comes in and saves the day like its nothing. The heros of endgame should be steve, tony and thor, they deserve the triumphant end. They started this 10yr journey and they deserve to end it.
I can empathize with that fear, but I have more faith in Feige than to screw it all up, thankfully, he's not Kathleen Kennedy and with the next phase already planned, I'm sure he'll want to go into it properly.

Everything you just said about her character development was pre-amnesia, which if you read my prior comments, is a big reason I gave issues with her character. There was little connection between her new and old self. Because there was no connection between the two, they might as well have been 2 different characters.

I really don't follow you at all with this line of thinking.

The main part of the plot is her discovering her current life is a lie... and reconnecting with the prior life. Understanding how those memories are connected to her current attributes of pushing, challenging, wanting more. The only difference is now she has new powers and new business to take care of. Her persona, her key character traits remain consistent. What we start with in the movie is this spunky girl in conflict because she can't connect these dots. The reveal removes the fog, the dots get connected, and now the path and pieces make sense.

She doesn't divert or fundamentally change in anyway - simply the disconnect and confusion are removed. The only difference is now she has new enablers (her power) and now a new mission. One might argue her enlightenment and the desire to fight for others is a bit of a disconnect. Like, how much did she buy into the 'end wars' dialogue from Mar-Vell .. but I don't see this huge disconnect between pre-explosion Carol and post reveal Carol.

Seems like a big drop but I’m guessing it’s normal.
A 55% drop is the average across all the MCU movies. All 2nd weekend/week drops in the industry have been trending higher for a few years, so 55% is actually a better than typical retention rate. Black Panther had a remarkably low drop of only 44.7% (though factoring the holiday weekend that goes to a more typical 54%)

So daughter and wife (who is not super huge into the marvel movies) went today. Wife loved it. Daughter says it's her favorite movie (not just marvel). I wasn't allowed to be first one to see it (on orders of the 6 year old), so now I will be seeing it tomorrow or monday.
Is the 6 year old the one that went?

If you are in fear of your safety of your six year old, use an appropriate emoji and we'll send help.

Yup, she loves marvel movies. Shes young, but she's mature and has no problem separating movies as fantasy (doesnt have nightmares), so I didnt even worry about previewing captain marvel before letting her go.
So how would you be “first” if you went together?

6 year old logic... 🤣
