Captain EO Closing at DLP 4/2

From what I heard, DLP's Captain EO was the least attended of all and on some days they actually haven't even been running it. So this could just be an issue of it makes more sense to close it than to keep it open.

I like EO as it is such a nice change from the atrocity that was HISTA. Hated that show with a passion! I can sit and watch EO all day.

Good. The last few times I've been to DLP, I've rarely seen anyone go into EO. I did this attraction a while ago, and it was dated.

Time to move on.

Agree, they didnt want to spend money on anything worthwhile so this was a cheaper choice. But its making them look lazy and cheap at this point, TDO/Imagineering whichever. Lets get that 3D Figment movie going, wake up TDO. And no that doesnt mean turn the theater into meetngreets!!!
I spoke with a Disneyland cast member recently, (I know just a castmember), they said a new show was being planned for their EO and it would happen there before WDW.

No doubt! When I took my extended family a couple years ago, we were pretty disappointed. Very dated and I think the only thing we got from it was a cool shirt when we walked out. My youngest brother wanted it as a conversation piece. Lol

I'm laughing more at the fact that some people were expecting something so grand from an 80's 3d flick. I mean seriously, were people expecting Gone With the Wind? It was awesome in it's time and now it's a tribute and also a piece of nostalgia. I LOVE EO, absolutely love it! I just hope it's still around in September since we missed it on this trip last week.

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
This just takes even more out of the graveyard that DLP Discoveryland has become, its a shame!

Dont hold your breath for anything to replace it either!

I certainly wasn't expecting anything grand. I knew it would look like an 80's 3D film...and it did.

Couldn't argee more. EO needs to get lost in space. What a cheap way to fill an attraction.

Good riddance. It was fun (I suppose) for some people to have it back for a short run to relive the past, but it has already over-stayed its welcome and shouldn't be a long-term solution for that space.

I question the judgment of anyone who thinks this is a good attraction for Future World, and doesn't just like it because it's MJ or it plays to their nostalgia for the attraction.

Being "better than HISTA" doesn't make it good.

Agreed 100 percent. I think it is funny that a lot of people that always want to say keep moving forward are fine with Captain EO not only coming back but staying for years. Let us also look at the fact that it took the death of Michael Jackson and Disney ready to profit off of that to bring it back for its second run. There is really no denying that. Good riddance indeed.

NOOOOO! This is awful! Captain EO has become one of my favourite Must-Do attractions! Not because of nostalgia (I was born in 1992, way after the show's heyday) but because it features THE most incredible entertainer of all time!
As a big Michael Jackson fan I know I'm massively biased, and one of a vast minority of people who like the show, but its really the only way I can see my hero on stage (be it on a big screen, but in the moment it's like he's on the stage before our eyes!). It is dated, but it's bound to be, it's from 1986! But Captain EO is at least 10 times better than HISTA (just like the original Imagination pavillion is so much better than what it has become).
I know its inevitable that its bound to go sooner or later, but they should at least have some plans about what is gonna be put in its place before they scrap it. Epcot does not need another White Elephant or HISTA dud.

There are attractions that I would enjoy having back, for nostalgia reasons. This wasn't one of them. I saw it once when I was a child, and didn't enjoy it. HISTA is what sticks in my brain as "having grown up with". HISTA was my nostalgic attraction, not EO.

So, I would have much rather continued to experience HISTA until they could come up with something NEW and BETTER. Instead, they went back in time, taking Future World even further from the future.

...or alternatively, how about a theatre showcasing past 3D-films from Disney parks!? They could rotate the show every year or so? I know Epcot is about Tomorrow, but a few attractions which remind guests how the park has developed would be great! :)
