Hi All,

Ideally I would make an ADR for dinner at Ohana on the night I need but they are booked. :( So I am looking at the menu's for Captain Cook's or Kona Cafe for dinner. We have ADR's for bfast at Ohana and Kona on different days. Which do you think is better? I'm not keen on spending $30/ person on a prix fix menu which is what Kona is for dinner. But some of the quick service places are not the best so I am wondering how Captain Cook's compares. Any info is great!

On a side note - my old computer died (battery pack went kaput) and while I wait for a new one, I'm using my DH's computer who doesn't have all my Disney book marks on them. There is a website devoted to the Poly - anyone know what it is? Thanks!

Captain Cook's is pretty good for a counter service, but it's nothing like the quality of Kona. I think really they are two very different classes of restaurant, and it's difficult to compare them.

Excellent! Thanks for the tip! I've heard unbelievably amazing things about Kona for bfast so I'm very excited to give it a try. But dinner - I thought it would have more options.

Kona is one of my favorite places on property! We had our rehearsal dinner there and our guests loved all the choices and great flavors.

However, I do love Captain Cook's, too. For a quick service, they have a decent variety. And, if you like Dole Whip, it's there, and offered as your dessert choice. The burgers are really good, as if the turkey club. The Poly Chips are to die for.

Honestly, if you think Kona might be too expensive, CC is a great QS option. When you're done, you can walk right out the back door and take the boat to the MK.

I will say that Captain Cooke's has good flatbread pizza and decent menu choices. Plus, it is pretty nice to be able to get a Dole Whip right there. However, my vote would be for Kona. It is one of my favorite places to eat on property. I've eaten there several times for dinner and have never had a bad or even mediocre experience. If it is an issue of money, then go for Captain Cooke's; if you are looking for a replacement of O'Hana, go to Kona.

We have never eaten at Captain Cook's, but I highly recommend Kona Cafe. We had free dining last December and decided to try other restaurants. We bypassed Kona since we ate there the past two years. We ate at places like Narcoosee's and Yachtsman Steakhouse and our whole family agreed neither is as good!

I'm confused by this. Kona isn't fixed price at any meal; everything is a la cart.

Are you confusing Kona Cafe and 'Ohana? 'Ohana has the family style prix fixe menu at breakfast and dinner.

I haven't eaten at Ohana or Kona cafe but we did grab dinner at CC's and loved it. The flatbreads are really good. The restaurant style I would compare it to is more like a Panera bread.

Kona has a price fixe option at lunch and dinner, where you can select 1 appetizer, 1 entree, and 1 dessert from a limited list. However, those aren't the only items on the menu. You're free to order a la carte as well.

Oh, I don't think Kona is too expensive. That isn't it. It's just that you get so few choices for the dinner menu. That is why I wasn't sure that I wanted to do it.

:hammer:  I don't remember that at all, and I just ate there last year! Oops!

I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for it on the upcoming trip.

DH & I love Kona, we just ate there a couple weeks ago and thought they had plenty of choices on the dinner menu. Yes, the pre fixed menu is rather limited, but nothing says you have to order from that. DH had the NY Strip and I had the Shrimp & Scallops and both were very good :slurp:

Thanks for the info. The site I was on showing the dinner menu showed only the prefixe options. Nothing else. I will look some place else for the full menu. Thank you!

Captain Cook's is great, and I love the aloha pulled pork, but Kona is fantastic - especially the New York strip. I would definitely choose Kona, unless you want to save money.:)
