The question is, if they are allowed to do this, why haven't they done it already?
That's why I started the thread and why it's newsworthy - note they didn't train this guy in park as per SoP.

This may have been the glimmer of truth in the recent talk of WDW getting the Marvel rights back. I believe @marni1971 said things were Being clarified. Maybe uni gets to add MCU theming and attractions and WDW can do meet n greets outside of the parks

As long as it's outside the park perimeter, not classified as an "attraction", and does not use the Marvel branding or logos they can pretty much do whatever they want. (Within reason of course, one lawyer at Universal likely keeps one eye eternally on the Disney/Marvel situation.) And that only applies to the character units that Universal has licensed, so if it's not under the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic 4, or Spider-Man umbrellas it's fair game.

(They've tested the waters with Guardians of the Galaxy characters at DHS. If no repercussions happen, which none have come to light thus far, by the time the next GotG comes out it's not outside the realm of possibilities for in park M&G with them.)

In park there is no presence in Orlando. Out of the parks as we can see it's different. And that's the way it is.

It's a good question. It's possible that Disney doesn't want to deal with the questions of putting Captain America in their resorts if he's already represented at USO and he's the most logical character to have. Disneyland has Cap and Thor already.

Also, what hotel would you put them at?

But which one would they put it in? None of them would really make much thematic sense. Even Contemporary would be stretching it.

That's the rub. The resorts were it might make some thematic sense are All Star Movies or Pop Century and obviously they wouldn't do a character meal in a value. I actually think the best option would be Saratoga Springs where they could (very nominally) argue that the Avengers HQ is in upstate NY. Don't get me wrong -- huge stretch, but it's the best I could think off. Might help to booster DVC sales there.

But another option would be to have a character meal (or at least a M&G) in DTD. Even without being able to use the Marvel branding, they could have it attached to a comics store and it wouldn't stick out as much as it would at a themed resort.

Even if legally allowed, it is a concept that just seems to open up too many headaches. The whole thing would look silly having to constantly avoid the Marvel name and would only cause more people to inquire about the rides.

I wonder about the strain on the hotels too, especially monorail resorts like the Contemporary. Disney seems to be cracking down on parking at resorts you're not a guest at, and I'm not sure they would want to further encourage the practice.

Downtown Disney would seem like the best choice to me.

They should re-do the Art of Animation hotels, Lion King section to Avengers.

Umm Marvel isn't Animation. It's most famous for being comic books or movies.
Now if you were suggesting replacing Mighty Ducks at All Star Movies, that would make more sense. Not gonna happen though.

Really? Where did the beloved Spider-Man theme come from? Hmm? There was also the incredibly popular X-Men animated series, the critically acclaimed Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Big Hero 6 made nearly $700 million in the box office.

Unlikely, but a character meal at DtD or a new restaurant by BWI, just outside DHS, which could be moved into DHS if the park limitation is ever lifted.

That's why I qualified it with most famous for being comic books and movies. But either way, the Marvel animation wouldn't fit in Disney Art of Animation. Big Hero Six would fit, as it is a Disney Animation Studios film, inspired by a Marvel comic.
