Cantina de San Angel heading into the lagoon

I wouldn't get too upset over the current height of some of the pilings right now... In all likelihood they'll be cut to the proper, level height after all of the pilings are in and set. (You don't want to guess on how far a piling will have be driven, and then find it has to go farther than expected, leaving you with a support that's too short...)

They'll probably all be cut short in the next day or two.

That's what I am worried about.:lookaroun

Relax; take a look at what Rob said. The pylons will be cut down to size later on. To establish a suitably stable foundation, the pylons have to be driven deep into the ground; however, no one knows for sure just how deep that is. As a result, the pylons are made to be longer than what is actually needed for the final structure. Look at the pics; notice how the pylons are all slightly different heights from one another? Thats because each one went a different distance into the ground. Some went in deeper to hit solid rock, others went in a bit shallower. Point is, the actual pier will not be that high; it will be more or less the same height as the promenade.

For a good baseline, I'm willing to bet the pylons will end up about as high as the orange markings on the nearest ones.

I'm not worried about the pylons, seeing that they will be cut down, I'm thinking about the future building to be put in that spot.

Ah, okay... meh, I'm sure it'll be fine. There are a number of things they can do from forced perspective to even "sinking" the building into the ground a few feet to lower its height from across the lagoon. Those imagineers are pretty clever you know. ;)

We shall see. The pyramid has been the focal point for the pavilion since 1982, and before that in it's inception. I would hope that they won't alter that and go for a asymmetrical pavilion all of a sudden like the others have. It would alter the area a bit too much.

Eh, I can see what you mean but I personally wouldn't mind to see the outdoor area expand a bit. I've never really liked how the only part of Mexico you see is the pyramid facade and that everything else is inside essentially out of sight. Having a bit more substance along the promenade (as in a bigger, more detailed building(s)) wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

I agree, but I don't want them blocking the main pyramid, which is what I fear a 2 story structure will do.

What we need is a nice, scaled version of what we had before.

Definitely going to be the best place to view Illum. Another of the new projects I'm very optimistic about.

Yeah not a bad spot at all. Only problem will be that it will become a highly contested spot. Imagine how long people are going to be stretching out those counter service dinners?!?

I'm hoping they are considering a pre-paid meal reservation system for the seating. Perhaps they can quit serving at a certain time and then clear the deck for the reserved seating for an added charge. Otherwise people will camp out all day. They need a strategy. Perhaps it could become a table service at night.

I know I would, if I missed out on a R&C ressie. But camp out all day, jt? I've never seen that happen, save for NYE or July 4th Shows. People fall into place about 20-10 mins before. Even in some of the hot spots.

I have seen people camping out 3 and 4 hours before hand on non-holidays.

Oh I've definitely seen it. Walk through an enclosed CS sometime like the EU in Innoventions. There will often be a table piled with personal effects a few scattered drink cups and someone with their feet up on a chair reading a book while the family explores the park. The curse of the annual passholders.

I'd be interested if any CM's here know if Disney has a procedure for folks who camp out like this. Do they have to change locations every couple hours?

^I've never seen that.

And you would think that the APers wouldn't do that, seeing they can come back at any time. None of the APers I know do that...

That is NOT normal.:brick:  For IllumiNations?

I mean....I love the show....I want a great spot...but not THAT badly.

Oh yeah, they bring the kids and set them loose. Some individuals get bored if they go to much so they sit in the AC and read a book or even nap.

Look for them next time. They are all around.
