Can someone share what the candlelight processional is like? Could a 5 year sit thru it? Do you actually sit or is it standing only? Any pictures? Thanks!

It is a great show. It is 45 minutes long with singing and narration. I don't know if your 5 year old can sit that long and be quiet.

It is in a theater with a capacity of 1800 seats. People buy the dining package to guarantee a seat. Once everyone with a package sits, people waiting in the stand by line are allowed in to fill the remaining seats (if any). People can stand behind the 1800 seated people, but as you can imagine, it is quite far from the stage.

Here is a link with pictures

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I reccomend not missing this show. It's a beautifully narrated telling of the biblical story of Christmas with also a choir. They have a celebrity guest that narrates the story at every show. There is 3 shows every evening. As the other poster noted it is about 45 min.
Even if you cancel your dinner package you still can get a seat (they do keep a certain amount of seats for stand by, not all seats are used for
The dinner packages only a portion of them). But if you want a guaranteed seat without having to wait a while in line the dinner package is the way to go. We always have done it stand by without any problem or waiting long in line but not everyone is that lucky as it varies every day.
Many people have young children that are with them so don't let that stop you. CP is a must do for us if we are there around the holidays. Gives me chills and near tears every time. Just beautiful and can't say enough about it.
If you do a search on the web you will find videos of it but they do it no justice because in person it is so much better! :)

I was there in 2012 with a 7 year old he loved it. If you plan to go do it as part of the dinner package. Most if not all seats are used as part of dinner program. Very few seat if you are thinking of stand by. There are places that you can stand further back from the stage. It is broadcast on sound system so you can still hear if you can not see. Here are some pictures.

Not all seats are used for the dinner package. Only a certain number of seats are used for the packages. And a certain number of stand by seats are available for people without packages. We have never done the package and have gotten a seat every time. So they definately don't use all seats just for the packages.
But like I also advised if you want a guaranteed seat at a certain show then yes by all means I reccomend the package. :)

IMHO it may not be a 5 yr olds cup of tea... While mesmerizing to me, my DGDs (5 and 10 at the time) found it tedious and difficult to sit through. Both these young ladies are well behaved and are regulars at Sunday church services. For them the trumpets were too loud and the younger one became quite restless. This is just my experience. Hope this helps with your decision.
If you will never get another chance, then by all means go...

I have done it once. I booked the dining pkg for our 2013 Thanksgiving trip. Gary Sinese was the speaker and I love him, since I have a son currently serving. I really enjoyed the music and narration. I had read that this program was something Walt thought was important to offer over the holidays. My grown daughters and 2 young grand children thought it was long and boring but they obviously don't know what's up:rolleyes:. I'm with @NonnaT on this one, it's definitely worth experiencing but you may have a fidgety 5 year old by your side.

It all depends on what your child is used to. This is our church's traditional Christmas Eve 6 PM service (not the midnight service), and our pipe organ gets pretty loud (Presbyterian USA) so our kids were already used to 'big music' as they called it when they were little. It is a must do for us. I would keep the reservation, get an aisle seat and stay for as much as possible, but if my child became disruptive then I'd leave quietly.

We went last December with my 5 year old daughter and she loved it. She loves music and knew the songs (most of them anyways). The story is obviously one she knows as well. She sat and listened very attentively. More so than she normally does in a movie theater. She was very intrigued by the story, the music, and the decorations. It was a beautiful evening and performance. We ate at Teppan Edo beforehand and it was delicious. The perfect combination of a day at Epcot during the holidays. I highly recommend it.
