We are here in WDW so we seal ourselves off from news lol ...saw 815 CP last night, it was amazing but at least 4 performers (singers) had to be either escorted or removed in a stretcher due to what seemed to be illness...anyone know anything about this?

There were 4 taken off stage during the performance we saw. I was wondering what was going on. Is it just too hot up there?

It has always happened and right now it's likely happening even more since the temperatures have been in the 80's. They are in those robes for a long time and in close quarters on the stage so you will inevitably have a Few who will overheat a little.

As someone who has been a performer all my life, having people drop out this often is insane! I haven't seen that many people drop out standing at attention in the Florida sun.

You do understand that most of these choir performers are high school students don't you? We're not talking about seasoned performers here but students who are not likely to have any experience performing like this, especially outdoors. Anything they've done is highly likely to have been indoors in conditioned air etc..

A majority, I'm sure, are just locking their knees. Anytime you see someone that has to stand for a long period of time take a tumble, you can bet it's because they locked their knees.

I have never heard of locking the knees and passing out. How is not bending your knees when standing going to make you pass out?

It affects the return circulation back to your heart and causes fainting/passing out. It's pretty common in the service too until guys can get used to D&C and other time eating events that require the position of attention for long periods of time.

The lights onstage are hot, and combined with the robes and Florida heat can cause a lot of problems for the performers. Several Candlelight performers I've talked to have mentioned the challenge of staying fully attentive and clear-headed while doing the performances.

Let me explain as someone who has had friends perform every year, so apparently the lights onstage and the outfits the kids wear make it extremely hot for them to perform in add in some stage anxiety and you have the perfect blend for a knockout punch. This is something that is so frequent that the kids are told not to lock their knees in (something about blood flow) and when kids do drop during the performances they are escorted away. Also if they aren't behaving or talking they get escorted out as well.
